It's nothing as simple as that I'm afraid! I made a binnacle that would take the tomtom2 b&m so it looked more permanent and part of the car, it was a long project with many false starts and in the end failed because my construction method used different types of plastics, which when subjected to the scorching heat of an English summer expanded at different rates and caused cracks....

For the new car I have bought a pioneer stereo with Apple CarPlay and a fascia to go around it, but that's another story lol!

The design really looks the part from the picture, far better than FIAT attempts.

I remember following that amazing build thread - kudos to you for all your work on that - I found it inspiring!

It may not have survived the scorching heat of an NZ summer either

I would love to know more about this, as I'm considering the same. I know that it is trendy to hate all Apple products (making excuses about the expense etc.), but the reality is that it would be nice to have a simple touchscreen stereo that "just works". And that's what the original iPhone did for the smartphone market, which (prior to the iPhone) was loaded with features that didn't actually work, much like touchscreen stereos today. I know because I had an HTC TyTn II, and various Sony/JVC/Panasonic stereos plus one generic type from China in the Stilo.

I'll be very interested if you do a bit of a review for us in another thread

Will do Alex, I'm trying to get all the bits together so that when my new car arrives in a month or so everything is ready to go straight in.. I'm really looking forwards to repping panels out of a car thats just a few hours old!

The fascia I have found was described by the seller as perfectly matching the finish of the original, but is actually quite a cheap moulding and makes the Fiat plastics look good, so I will have to do a bit of work on that before it goes in lol.

I will start a worklog thread as soon as the seller actually manages to get a facia to me in one piece, we are on the third try now...
