Technical Blue&Me: Phone/Media Player Connectivity

Hi everyone,

I’ve had my 57 plate 500 sport, 1.4 for about 5 years and am looking for some help with the Blue&Me functions.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy phone, and when I am in another car (I’ve recently tried this in Peugeot, Kia and BMW) I can play media files via Bluetooth (most notably using the Audible app for those who know of it). Unfortunately this does not seem possible in my 500, even when I plug the phone into the USB connector. Does anyone know if this is simply because my brilliant 500 is now a bit out of date technology-wise L, or am I doing something wrong?? . I know at one time Fiat were selling iPhone adaptor cables that could be used in the older models, but I’m not sure if there is a similar solution to this?

On a separate note - text messages: When I first had my 500, it would alert me when I had received a text message and read it out to me if I wanted. It has not done this since mobile phones started displaying texts as conversations. Am I right in thinking that this new mobile technology means that the Blue&Me system can no longer identify new messages and therefore previous functionality is no longer possible?

I love my 500 so can forgive it these minor shortcomings, but I thought it worth checking to see if anyone knows of a workaround.

Thanks ahmett - just to checj do you mean my phone software or my car software? If you mean the latter, how would I go about doing this? I assume it would mean going to a Fiat dealer?

then follow the instructions on how to update the system. Also has a list of phones and what functions they can do.
