Technical Locking wheel nut dilemma

I went to my local breakers and they supplied me with four standard wheelnuts for £2 (for which Desira would charge £20), Desira removed locking wheelnuts and replaced them with my supplied standard ones for £14. I now have the set of locking ones for which Desira can order me the key for £27, however I probably won't bother - but I now have the choice.

I bought a set of locking nuts from Desira for £15 for my old punto, the only problem with desira was they they are so incompetent they fitted the wrong size meaning that I had 17mm normal nuts and 19mm locking key, only discovered months later when doing some work on the brakes. [emoji849]

As stated above, if your wheels did get pinched then the insurance company may ask for the locking but key to prove 1) that you had locking nuts and 2) that the key is still in your possession. Same as if your car was stolen they would want to know you still had the keys and hadn't just left them in the car.

If they don't pay out then £100 a tyre and £200+ per wheel from the dealership makes for a very big personal expense.
