JR - it's a pain wading through multiple picture posts to follow this thread. Any chance you could "give it a tidy" so the very useful essence of the post is maintained?

Snes - not sure how I can do this without compromising the pictures, which is kind of the point of the thread the first time it's viewed.

Perhaps now that it's rolled over onto a second page, folks revisiting the thread won't have to wade through megapixels to follow the latest conversations.

JR.

Thanks for taking a look, JR.

I've taken another look myself. I reckon the 2nd post, showing both inside and outside shots, gave enough information. The rest are just more of the same.

Instead of taking the trouble to select carefully, Pretenders seems to have slung everything that fits into (multiple) posts. It's essentially a lazy approach and led me to quickly switch off as I became aware that I was simply viewing the same thing in slightly different settings.

As an aside, I reckon even if the wraps were off the car, the post wouldn't be much more interesting as the mods appear to be of a purely marginal cosmetic nature.

Actually we've seen some of this at least once before; see this recent thread.

I left this one just as it was because some folks seemed genuinely interested and the conversation was much more polite than in previous threads on this topic.

I'd agree there are too many photos but you never know; some eagle-eyed observer might find something interesting in one of them.

Personally I'm with you on this one, I doubt there's much of interest to observe.

Pretender's enthusiasm is maybe a bit overwelming, but personally I like the photographs. These are much more interesting than the "artist impressions" of wannabe designers that are shown on several websites.

The UConnect unit looks like a piece of vintage equipment from a physics lab that has been pushed with extreme force into the ventilation outlets. Not too impressed.

I hope they don't get rid of the Port 68R socket mount (and cradle). I really like using it with my TomTom Go 500.

The UConnect thing is an abomination.

Lets hope they show it at Geneva this year, I will be there and will get some photos if the updated car is there.

Hopefully the exterior changes will be minor. It looks like they will be. It just needs enough to keep it fresh without losing its good styling.

The interior additions look ok & are needed, but I hope it's not going to be a mish mash of new UConnect unit and old heater controls, as they don't go together very well. I also wonder if they're going to have a cream UConnect unit to go with the Ivory ambience? Personally I think that whilst it's a bit clunky, Blue&Me is actually pretty decent & UConnect isn't good enough to replace it. Ford's SYNC that they make big claims about doesn't appear (on the surface) to offer a great deal more than Blue&Me, yet Blue&Me was first available way back in 2006 on the Grande Punto!

Sadly what I bet won't be changed, and what I think needs to be, is the 500s suspension. Having done a few miles in the Parents TwinAir 500 over the past week, it's the main thing that lets it down. The engine is a peach & it copes amazingly on the Motorway, but in territory that the car was designed for, it's bumpy, nobbly ride and tendency to transmit road/tyre noise really grates. I've not driven the 500s rivals but I'm sure they surely do suspension better than the 500?! Fiat really need to nail this I think, but I doubt anything will happen till we see an all-new model.

There was me hoping for an integrated SatNav unit that also handled music playback etc. Nope.

As for those complaining about the heating controls? Get climate control, looks much better than a nasty dial :)

The media system in my Focus is the same as the blue&me I had in my GP same Microsoft based product even the voice is the same, mines pre sync though.

I truly hope this was only a bad April fools joke:

My question is, if it's just a facelift to the lights and bumpers why do Fiat feel the need to do such extensive road testing, is it just to get some magazine/Internet coverage? Perhaps there are some changes to running gear which need testing.

I don't think it looks too bad tbh and remember this is the US version so Europe may get different tweeks. I quite like the new vw beetle now and the old one already looks quite dated, such is progress!
