I joined the forum yesterday to try and find a good panda 4x4. it occurs that i might be able to get an answer to an issue my wifes 2009 fiat 500 is having. Its a 1.4 4 cylinder-i think-engine and its got just shy of 60,000 miles on it. Gets a good run on dual carriageway practically every day. I rarely use it but the other day we swapped cars at lunch and i drove hers home. I could it seemed only get around 4,500 rpm out of it. When we first had the car I'm sure it was a free revving little unit that made its power towards the red line. Joining a dual carriageway slip road i couldn't get it to rev past 4,500 ish. it makes the car a little gutless? Do these cars have separate coil packs? Could it be down on one spark? It has regular services and the air filter is ok. At a bit of a loss to say whats wrong? Any clues please?

generally a coil pack would lead to unburnt fuel - and the EML on..,

1.2's have 2 x coil packs.
not sure about the 1.4,

hi, i don't have a fault code reader. would one from amazon do the trick? never owned one before but we have a few cars so it wouldn't be a bad idea. i understand these just plug into the obd port?
