Hi does anyone know the bulb size and type of the interior light on the 500s. I have searched the forum but cannot see a size also I do not have the car yet, picking it up a week today so I dont have a handbook. Any help is appreciated :)

Have you or are you just buying this vehicle? Just a little confused about why you need to know the size of the bulb if you don't have the car yet :confused:

My missus is out in her TA at the moment and the Haynes Manual and owners manual are in the car, so don't have a reference at the moment, though I'm sure someone will be along soon.

Aaah, gotcha, yup, I can see why you would, I have a bright white led light in the roof lining of my works van and it is very good. Didn't think about putting one in my own car tho.

The one in the boot is a W5W capless push in type. The brightest LED I've found are either CREE or COB LED's, but be aware some don't last very long.
Have a look at Seagull's 595 Abarth thread as he does a good mod for boot lighting.

Be careful swapping "normal" bulbs for LEDs.
The body computer may not like it.

Not sure about the interior light, but I seem to remember on here that someone tried to replace their boot light with an LED and you need some sort of resistor or something to fool the computer that it's not a normal bulb.

Good luck, and correct me if I'm wrong! :)
Mick.

I fitted an LED replacement unit like the following;

It's been working for two years with no issues. Excellent bright white light, (fairly) simple job and no problems with the computer - recommended. I took the opportunity to reverse the light so that the 'ON' position is on the right - personal preference.

The CANBUS doesn't monitor the interior lights. Boot light is fine also.

Didn't think it would monitor internal lights as I have never had a problem with fitting Led's to any of my other cars and to be fair in the past I have changed number plate lights and side lights to LED and not had a problem with other Canbus systems either. It would appear though from reading posts on here that Fiats Canbus system is a little bit more picky/tempremental. I still have a few different error free Led's hanging around that I intend to try when we pick ours up next week. ;)

I bought a 60 strip and added it to the wiring. Runs nicely along the underneath of the parcel shelf and lights the whole boot. Cost about £1 of eBay.
