As a complete newbie to one of these MM units, can someone explain how they fit? I must say I'm tempted to get one for our 85TA.

Is it just unit that you plug in to the existing stuff and clip it out of the way?

???
Mick.

I think you need to remove the battery to plug it into the ecu and then there are 3 leads to plug into various sensors. I was quoted £40 by local independent to fit it.

It's usually just two connections, plus two to the battery.

The MM unit is only connected to these two sensors as shown in the video. There is no separate connection to the battery. (The MM unit uses the supply voltage of the sensors.)

You would wonder why it's not currently available and why they're rewriting the software?? Sounds like something came out in the wash!!

I feel safer knowing there was a problem, that they've discovered it and hopefully fixed it, than buying one of the other brands that may have the same issue undiscovered/ unacknowledged. Would be nice to know the full story though.

From prior experience with MM aftermarket products, I'd give them 1 out of 5 for effort so no real surprise. (n)

DaMoeKr,
Thanks for the video.

Trouble is, it's incomplete. It only shows the two connections etc but not fitting the unit.

Is there a Part Two to this?

Thanks,
Mick

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the wiring harness shown in the video doesn't belong to the MM unit but to a competitor. Nevertheless, the MM unit is connected in the same way.

The video is for another brand but the wiring that comes with the MM unit is the same. The only thing missing is the connection of the unit itself to the wiring harness. There is no need to connect anything to the battery.

My statement above isn't completely right. The MM module is not only connected to the two sensors, but also to the wiring harness of the car that normally connects these sensors with the ecu. Sorry for this inconvenience. Now you'll understand why I have that disclaimer in my signature...
