does anyone know what the differences are between a 500 twinair and a twinair plus? I have a 2012 500 twinair plus, 0.9 tubo if that helps, I'm just curious

We have a Twinair Plus

Back to OP's original question

From memory, the "plus" also got 16" alloys and more sportier seats (front)
FWIW the 16's make an enormous difference
better handling at the expense of harder ride

Seats are same in both.
A lot of folks confuse the Twinair engine option with the actual Twinair model that was actually badged as twinair.
The Twinair model is essentially what the sport became. It was only around for 2011/2012 I think.

Not sure I agree with you on the 16" wheels. I've driven both and for me the TA felt more agile on 15's

Not sure what you mean by "agile"
We live on the coast south of Brisbane and we are surrounded by sugar cane
So the roads are basically around the cane fields resulting in 90° corners that have recommended speed signs of 50kph.
We take these at 100kph and the 16" wheels handle the 100kph much better than the son's TA Lounge on the 15" wheels.
But again, these are definitely "provincial" roads and the ride is much better in his car.
In traffic and driving too and from work I think I would prefer 15" wheels as well

Thanks on the seats

Yes, ours has the "TwinAir" badge
The only way to check for the "plus" is to check the aircon - and it is the Climate Control

In fact, when we bought ours there was a model called, of all things the "Rockstar"
It was essentially the same as the TwinAir Plus, climate control, 16" wheels, Blue & Me, and all the other stuff on the plus.
Main difference was that the dash was painted body colour and seats were same shape but had different fabric

Was that model released in the UK/Europe ??

So the Twinair badge was actually only applied to a specific trim/equipment combo rather than generally to Twinair-engined cars?

Yes and no, basically when the engine was first introduced, it wasn't an 'engine' option so to speak, more a spec in its own right.

You bough a Fiat 500 Twinair, which had the twinair engine and certain kit.

Now the twinair is merly an engine option for any spec. IE you can have the engine with a Pop or Lounge or S spec, just like you can have the 1.2 or MultiJet (y)

Mine's got the Twinair badge, but it's also got a black roof, which apparently UK models didn't get?

Re the 16" yes I can see that outright grip will be better : )

mine is 2012, it has the twinair badge on the back, on the top of the engine it says twinair plus, so is mine any different?

Happy Boxing day, guys!

I'm confused.
We have a TA Lounge 85hp first registered in Sept 2011.
It has auto climate control, Blue&Me, red cloth seats, 15" alloys, and fog lights.
It just says "Twinair" on the top of the air filter.

Is it a "plus" or what?
I just thought it was a standard Lounge.

Greetings to all,
Mick.

No it's a lounge with a TA engine.
The Twinair model has a badge on he read hatch that says 'Twinair'
The Twinair was a specific model but you could also spec the TA engine in a lounge.

2011 vs 2012,
not sure the + was around in 2011..,

as stated, FIAT UK had a "twinair model/spec" in 2012 , as that's what my punto is,

I would be wary of comparing different's markets Model names.. having discovered Brazil still are on 2011 look FIAT's ( punto EVO)
