Hi there,

The scuttle panel on my fiat 500 isn't sitting correctly and is flared at a couple of points where it meets my windscreen. I assume the seal sits in a lip?

Had a look under the bonnet and I see three fixings...two plastic tabs either side and a torx screw in the middle.

Anyone rectified a issue like this before? Or can shed any light on it's removal so I can sort this annoying point.

I reckon it was done when my suspension was being installed!

I reckon you're right.

The scuttle is originally fitted with three screws and captive nuts, all made from rather fragile black plastic. They're only good for one use, and I suspect the torx screw was bodged in by the suspension fitter.

To remove the scuttle, take off the wipers, remove the three fixings, and it should just lift away.

I replaced mine with three black nuts, bolts & washers which I happened to have lying around. Any small nuts & bolts which will go through the holes should suffice.

You can stick back any bits that are flaring up with a dab of black silicone, if you want. Windscreen refitters do this all the time.

Many thanks for your help! I wondered why there was an odd torx bolt in the middle. In all honesty, I would prefer to rid the scuttle of those nasty plastic fixings.

Do you think the parts that are flared up is due to it being installed incorrectly? It's strange. Either side of the scuttle sit flush, then it flares up next to this equally on both sides then flush in the middle. I don't know if there is a hidden tab which it clips into or if it just needs sealed

I don't know, mine has the torx in the centre from new. Probably best to use a sharp chisel to remove the plastic bits, I don't think any amount of care will enable their re-use. I replaced mine with plastic rivets (a Jeep part I think), screws add weight ;)
