I've noticed from new that the black top surface of my dash has a few what look like stains or blotches around the middle area, cant quite work out what it is but they catch the light and appear as sort of shiney areas. It's difficult to get your head in and check the surface up close but there's nothing obvious until the light catches it. I've tried cleaning with Autoglym vinyl care and also washing with a warm sponge but neither helped. I'm guessing it's a manufacturing flaw and perhaps some solvents stained the surface. I recall a thread about something similar yonks ago but cant seem to find it. Anyone else have this or have any suggestions as to how to sort? I don't want to go at it hard with a nailbrush or whatever in case I create another mark. Weirdly if you sit in the passenger seat you cant see them whatever way the light hits the surface.

Had a similar issue a few years ago with another car - tried a very light coating of black shoe polish - try a small part of the stain first to see how it reacts - worked for me!

It doesent photograph very well but you can sort of see it around the centre of the photo appearing as a slightly lighter blotchy area

I think I can see what you mean but I'd be lying if I said I could see it 100%. Have you tried isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre cloth?

No, I'd be afraid causing a fresh mark, suppose I could try a small discreet area as a test. How do isopropyl & plastic get on?

Perhaps a question for the detailing forum. Can't imagine it'd be a problem if it was diluted but best to ask :)
