Hi there,

I'm considering buying the following exhaust backbox for my Fiat 500 S 1.2 2014

MAGNETI MARELLI

http://www.mad4exhausts.com/en/fiat-500-12i-69-hp-07/8657-magneti-marelli-ss500b1-fiat-500-12.html

As you can see, the exhaust pipe work to the rear has a "adapter" which connects onto the existing system currently installed to my vehicle.

However, after a quick look under my car, there is no "adapter" on my current system and instead the exhaust is continuous pipework. My brothers pop 2012 has the adapter on his standard system which has left me a bit confused.

Anyone had any dealings of this kind? I assume this exhaust is not compatible? I assumed it would be an unbolting and a replacement job

A few years ago I fitted this to my 2008 1.2 Pop. It was a straight bolt on job.

However, I was expecting a nice Italian rasp, with not too much increase in noise, but it was just plain noisy - sort of agricultural. Bizarrely the car also felt slower. It did look great though, but I soon swapped back to the standard rear box.

I can certainly snap a picture tomorrow morning.

Had a good look underneath the car and I can see the bend where it lowers towards the ground but no bolts etc just a straight pipe all the way along.

I them checked my brothers car (2012 pop) and it shows the flange just at the bend where the backbox can be removed from the car.

It's very strange, maybe a redesigned system? Leaves me wondering what backbox I can get for my car...I don't want a full system.

I thought it was going to be easy! Unless I'm missing something!

I can see that the Fiat 500S exhausts are listed in a separate category in Fiat Sportiva's shop. Could mean that there is something different about them. Looks like Ragazzons so you might look into them. You could also contact Magneti Marelli and ask them if they have a backbox in the works for the S model.

Just be aware that Marelli exhausts are in my experience the most shoddy metal work I've ever seen. Definitely built by the one eyed, one armed apprentices, while already drunk on a Friday.

At least the 1.2 unit is fairly simple, so there aren't that many welds on them.

I'm pretty happy with mine. But the TA version is even simpler that the 1.2 so even less can go wrong :p

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but I thought it was worth adding that I can confirm that the 500S just has one long pipe from the very end of the back box to the cat, so no taking off the clamp 50cm down after the bends and fitting an exhaust. To fit a new exhaust you have to cut the pipe.

Midurix, the 500s isn't any different in terms of exhaust than any other 500, it's the engine that determines the exhaust

Manufacturers sometimes fit a one-piece exhaust in the factory to save a few pennies - they can do this by assembling it before, for example, the rear axle. Often they can't be removed without major dismantling and have to be cut off when the time comes for replacement with the more usual multi-part exhaust.

IIRC Ford in particular used to be fond of doing this, so maybe Fiat have learned a trick or two from the Ka collaboration.

Many thanks for all your help!

In the end, I decided to installed a Ragazzon exhaust (twin 70mm tailpipes) specifically designed for my fiat 500s. Ordered from a Fetman website and received within two days!

Fantastic tone and looks amazing! Will upload pictures today

Hi,
Some photos of my "Bianca" after I installed Magneti Marelli 4 tailpipes SS500ET for 500 Twin Air.
