I have a 500S on loan from the dealers while my Panda 4x4 TA is in for a clunky gearchange.
The loaner seems to light up and flash some of the warning lights when I'm indicating right.
Along with the signal telltale, the red temp warning light and the orange key code warning flashes in time with it!

What the fecks going on?

BTW, the 500S is a 1.2 and the 4 pot doesn't suit it, I've got to try one of these with either the 85 or 105 TA engine!

Probably a faulty instrument cluster, I recall similar been reported here before. The 1.2 you have may have very low mileage and is still very tight so seems a bit dead when you're used to your run-in Panda TA. I think the 1.2 will always feel a bit flat after a TA but it's a nice engine when loosened up and IMO suits the 500 well. Having said that I drive a TA!:D

We had the same on our 14 plate 1.2 pop in the respect that you indicated right and other lights lit up slightly...indicate left and it was fine. It obviously went back to our dealer and was swapped out under warranty.

Re the engine, they do indeed loosen up and you gradually realise it has a lot more there than you used to have...it's taken my wife by surprise only last night when she was overtaking a tractor in a country lane, she kept it in 4th and off she went...smiling as she went :)

I've got my eye on a TA for me or if i can stretch the budget and get a "used" car instead of brand new, i'd like an Abarth...i'd love to have a go in one :slayer:

Well the indicator business doesn't stop me wringing it's neck until I have to give it back, but I still think the engine isn't suited to the S.

Mrs Goudrons Panda Lounge is ok with the 1.2, but it's hardly sporty as the S is meant to be.

I have to admit, the S handles fairly well around town, diving here and there, nipping around corners and rounabout, the seats hold you in well, though like the new Pandas, I find them a bit short behind the knee and I ain't the Jolly Green Gaint!

The newer Pandas have better plastics and dash finish, the trim of the 500S is a bit "wheelie bin and Tic Tac box", not a complaint as such as I loved are old '57 Panda Active for this sort of finish, but that was a bargain bin, hose the vomit out sort of car, the 500S is meant to be a bit plusher, it's visually ok, but to the touch feels a bit too cheap and scratchy.

Indicator and wiper stalks feel like old friends (from the older Panda) and aren't as fussy as the new Pandas.

Ride isn't great over the traffic calming, but I didn't expect it to be, though the front of this loaner has already picked up a faint clonk on the front left in 1400 miles, I can see them suffering quite a lot from our potholes and traffic calming attempts.

I could probably live with most of it's foibles, but I'd be a bit let down by the 1.2 engine, it does need something to liven it up under the bonnet.

Don't know about the lights but beware once you have tried the 105TA you will inexplicably be drawn to the dark side!
The TA is capable of being driven economically and returning decent mpgs but can also turn on the FUN when you are in the mood. IMHO the 1.2 is compromised by the lack of power. But before anyone jumps on me I have to repeat - personal opinion and choice is what really matters!

I think the 1.2 is a fine motor.
I loved many a Fiat FIRE since the mid 80's.
Just think if I'd bought a 500S with it in, I'd be a little miffed after a while, particularly knowing how the TA goes.

The Mrs bought her new 1.2 Panda Lounge a week or so before I got my Panda 4x4TA and she chucked her (our) old 1.1 57 plate Active in for it.

(We actually went to check out the 4x4, but she pulled rank that day and bagged her Lounge, I had to wait a while longer)

But she now eyes my 4x4TA with jealousy.

The TA's noise and the way it goes, it's pretty unique and I couldn't give a stuff about mpg!

Can you get a 1.4 in a UK spec S?
Here in Australia it's only available as a 1.4 and drives superbly...

The 1.4 n/a has been discontinued in Europe in all forms in the 500 for a while now. It's a nice enough engine but I'd be getting a twinair if it were me.

I just prefer the look of the S inside and out, and love the 1.4. Petrol is cheaper here so twinair less attractive here to buyers, premium price for that engine option too. I'd like to see a TA in an S at some stage, might be a nice little package.

Yeah I could only get the TA 0.9 1.2 petrol or 1.3 diesel in the s range went for the TA over the other two just counting down the days now 13 to be precise :)

We know you like the twinair, we don't need to hear about it in every bloody post. Also, you'll notice that PSfiat is in Australia and they don't get a TA S there.
