A USB stick gives me the same problem as using my iPod. My phone is my satnav. As such I'd like that to be plugged into the only USB port so it stays charged. But blue&me won't read the music on it. I'm still experimenting though to see if I can make it work.

look / post on the Blue + Me forum,
there are certain phones that struggle,

my cheap android does call + music.. but no message reader facility

I'm still happy,
Charlie

There must me a market out there for someone like Brodit to make a smart phone holder that plugs into the Blue&Me port. Seems like an audience waiting to be tapped

Spent weeks looking for one myself. Did consider trying to adapt a genuine cradle to fit an S4 but gave up in the end. My phone mostly stays in my bag anyway, and it connects via bluetooth every time. Would be a great idea though.

I use a 6th Gen Nano in mine...

Alongside a short iPod lead. The little drop down cubby hole in the trim on the drivers side is made for it I'm sure :D
Have to say was rather impressed with the sound out of the factory speakers :D

I have a 5th gen Nano which also fits nicely in that pocket and yes the sound (when it works) is brilliant. Not used to a stock stereo delivering good sound (too many old cars in the past)

I have updated the Blue&Me firmware to V7 and that hasn't made a difference. Going back to Fiat on Monday for them to look at it (and a couple of minor niggles that they ought to have picked up before they handed me the keys) but failing that it looks like I will have to stop using the phone for SatNav and buy the Blue&Me TomTom unit (does it really have to be so expensive?) as I don't want cables trailing all over the car.

The Blue&Me TomTom is stupidly expensive but seems to be the only way to get the bespoke cradle. Having said that, while I'm still smarting from the cost the satnav works brilliantly. It occasionally plays up but is easily fixed by a reset. I've got Brian Blessed's voice shouting directions so I can't go wrong. In fact the quality's so good it's as if he was there in the car.

I have this ridiculously old and tiny Garmin (with maps from 2008:)) that works brilliantly. Loads up quick, never loses the signal and only very very occasionally deposits me in the stream in the middle of nowhere ;) Hubby's new all singing all dancing Garmin takes about 10 min to load up and 'recalculates' all the time but it has a vey husky sounding lady, so he is happy :D Wouldn't change mine even for Brian Blessed though!

You can buy the FIAT/Alfa Romeo port 68R cradle separately -- it cost me ~$130 delivered from Italy. It came in a Magneti Marelli box.
See my post here:
https://www.fiatforum.com/500/328022-new-satnav-options-blue-me-dash-socket.html?p=3341173

It fits the TomTom Go 500/5000, or the 600/6000 if you chop the top half off.

Thanks Sunsets, I wish I'd known that when I forked out for the Fiat unit but never mind. If only the partner's Pop had a socket... The satnav in use in the Pop is a generic cheapy, works well enough most of the time but the suction mount keeps falling off the windscreen. We tried affixing it to the painted dash panel but it won't stay on there either and tends to get bumped easily. Then the power cord got chewed by the seat runner.

I want to put a TomTom in that car too so I'm wondering if one of those 'beanbag' mounts might be a better bet. I also saw a mount that fits into the CD slot - anyone used one of those?

I just bought one of these -

[ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Addons-Multi-Surface-Attachment/dp/B00C1G33VY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404992384&sr=8-1&keywords=ultimate+addons+dash+pu[/ame]

Sticks to the windscreen or the dash and the suction cup is sticky so holds firm. You can then get a bracket for your device (or a universal one) Seems to work fine until I get something I prefer.

As to the TomTom port, these seem to be available on ebay for about £10. Can they be fitted to a car that doesn't have one? I presume there is a hole in the dash board to put it in but no idea if the wiring loom is there or not.

I have the port, but I cant justify that kind of money for a cradle/sat nav because I never use one. My journeys are all city runs in a place I know like the back of my hand. If I go any distance we use other half's Civic because it's the bigger car.

Thanks for the link. That might be a goer, especially if it'll adhere to the dash panel.

As to fitting a dash socket, I'd be less concerned about the loom than I would about the top of the dash - there is no hole. It'd be simple enough to run a cable to the cigarette lighter socket and that's all you'd need since the TomTom only derives 12V power from the socket. Chopping a hole through the dash though...?

I couldn't justify it either - I just love gadgets to be honest! However, it has proved useful on several occasions and it means I don't have to carry a Melway any more.

Speaking of 'grinning'- had my 500s, with a 1.4 petrol engine for two weeks now- it just keeps getting better and better- smile after smile...

I have the 68R ports so I haven't really looked, but Brodit make a bunch of vehicle specific mounts you could investigate.
