Hi, Just wondered if any convertible roof owners have experienced my problem:
Roof closing ok to required stop but not fully clamping down, resulting in a small air gap which causes an horrendous whistling when on the move, faster will cause it to increase noise. Took car to local Fiat dealer who plugged into E.C.U.diagnostics which showed up a fault on closing mechanism . Garage then re programmed ecu fix which cured it ???? Was charged £44 half an hour labour for this.
Garage could not confirm how or if this would ever happen again.
Is this a common occurrence with convertibles?
Cheers.

There is a procedure for "initializing" the roof mechanism in the extra manual I got for the soft-top. It might be worth trying before forking out to a stealer. Disconnect the battery for a while then run the roof through complete cycles while holding the buttons down. It's on page 5 of the soft-top manual.
Thanks for the info, however my roof top manual only shows how to open/close with supplied tool spanner via the dedicated aperture in the boot. I have a sept.2010 model. Also states that if this alignment proceedure does not work, then a visit to the dealer will be required. Do not know if this has changed with different year models or Fiats way of fleecing owners from a once user easy fix.
Cheers.

Just because it's not in your manual doesn't mean it won't work. It'd cost you nothing to try it. If it doesn't work you're no worse off, if it does you've maybe saved £44.

If you want the full procedure I'll be happy to post a scan.

If you could scan the info to me, would be brilliant . I would give this ago in future in case it happens again. Thanks in anticipation.

Here you go. Can't promise it'll work but give it a go. I'd suggest disconnecting the battery for a little while first.

Thanks for putting this up.
