Agree with Pompei, reading a thread is choice, seems like an interesting project regardless of the 'expert opinions ' which have not actually been asked for.

No Worries, I don't care about that.
The goal is not to build a track car, but I do this pure for the technical part.

I thought it would be nice for some members to see what is technicaly possible.
Everybody can build a 1.4 engine into a car which allready has such an engine from factory. Something else on the forum would be nice, not?
If people do not want us to continue our project here, just let me know, so we can talk about how shiny the new wheel caps are of some car.

Regards,

Patrick
Keep on going Patrick ignore the haters sitting in their chairs miserable with the British weather. By the way, would love to see the stats of the car once moving, how fast it goes, the weight difference between the normal car and this one, etc!.

Mind you, I think the car might need better brakes. Are you sorting that out?

Great job your doing there, I think what your doing I would like to see it through to the end, looks like a silent sleeper to me.

On another note I have a 1972 Mini which has a different engine in it with 200bhp + and still handles like a rocket around the corner, personally I think it will still handle fairly well, keep up the good job mate (y)

Lol! Anyone born and resident in the UK for their entire lifetime is used to the weather and I for one don't mind it one bit!

As for Patrick's project, good on yer fellah. Nice to see someone who is interested enough to take on a project the likes of which you are doing. Doesn't matter a rats fat arse what anyone else thinks, it's your project and you are entitled to share it and I'm very interested.

Remember, opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one! (y)

I find it sad that you're not allowed to express an opinion in the wider world these days.

At the end of the day it's the OP's project and if that's what they want to do and they enjoy it then great :)

Surely people are allowed to day what they think? If I think that the car is going to be unbalanced and not really be a car that can be chucked around and that it would be more suitable for a drag strip or motorway driving then isn't that a valid statement

Thanks (almost) everybody for the big support!

Feels good.

We have tested and prepared the engine into an Opel Tigra A (which has allmost the same weight) as a Fiat 500. And drove many test miles with the car.

The engine has a switchable boost controller. Which means that you can choose from 3 different bhp stages while driving: 80bhp - 200bhp - 300bhp.

With the first stage, the engine drives almost the same as a 0,9 2cil engine, so it is very safe to drive, even when it is raining.

In the second stage (200bhp) the engine turns into a real racing machine. It is very very quick, and much fun to drive. The engine has a very high torque allready in low gears.

The last stage (300bhp) can only be used in 4th, 5th and 6th gear on dry tarmac. You really should feel the car pulling from 60mph to 120mph!
Really unbelievable! You should see some people watching from other (very fast) cars on the highway.

ps. to answer the brakes question: We are going to fit Brembo brakes on the front axle, and brake Fiat 500 abarth brake discs on the rear axle.

Regards,

Patrick

I wish this car was in this country so I could see it doing it's stuff, bet it will give a few exotic sports cars a shock! :)

Hi to all,

It has been a while, but we have continued the build of our Fiat 500 OPC.
Engine and gearbox have been fitted, and we also modified the brakes.

For people who like to follow the build of this special Fiat 500, we have now a special facebook page. You will find updates about the build, with technical specifications:
