Hi,

I'm new to the forum world so please be kind ?

I've bought a new 500 lounge and I was after advice on bike racks/carriers to hold 2 road bikes. I am quite interested in the tow bar fitting type of racks as they don't cling to the car or mark it in anyway. Any advice on where to go for tow bar fittings, prices or bike carriers would be much appreciated and greatly received ?

I've always used Witter but luckily i have agood independent shop near me who does them for alot cheaper than this. Have a look around and see if there are any independent fitters close to you, and go for detachable if you can afford it.

For cycle racks i use these, all metal, unlike the Thule ones, and they fold up for easy storage, i could get mine in the boot of my Panda when i had it. They also drop with the bikes on, so you can access the boot. I got the Diament 2.

I had a towbar fitted from new on my 500c and I use a thule 2 bike carrier that clamps to the towball use it every weekend for the last 18 months folds up and goes in boot when not in use no problem with it at all

Not advisable with the glass roof on the lounge sadly Paul.

oops, forgot about those with glass roofs, tow bar it is then. It always felt the safer option to me anyway. :)

I see thule are now doing a towbar one thats folds up like the Diament one i suggested. I like this, as if your parked up and away from the car for somtime you can lock it away in the boot.
