It's not even 3 years old but sounds like an old banger.

Ive telephoned fiat about a few issues this week, the noise it makes when just sitting at lights or junctions, splutters and coughs. Also the indicator drives me mad, if I'm turning right at a roundabout obviously have to go slightly left first it will go off, then jams and won't go on again.

They not only told me that I have to pay £40 to register my car as mine with them. But woukd also have to decide whether the faults would be covered under manufacturers warranty, to do this they will charge me £80 diagnostic charge if it's not covered, if it is covered then no charge. Yeah ok whatever, sure I'll pay you £120 for nothing.

I had previously owned mini's which although we're expensive to run, their service was excellent.
My local garage laughed and said yeah we'll Fiat stands for fix it again tomorrow!!!!

I'd personally go and get a second, hell even third opinion, especially if it was a Fiat garage that told you that last bit!

The indicators work like that, once you get used to it then it's fine.

Are you the original owner?

Changing the spark plugs might be all it needs. If you're able to do this yourself, you can fit far better ones for under £30.

You're a FIAT owner now; you're not in Kansas anymore. Unless you have the tools, skills & competence to maintain your own car, you really need to cultivate a good relationship with a trusted independent garage.

Many of the posts on this forum lead me to believe that depending on the franchised dealer network is not a good way to go.

If it's in the third year of warranty and especially if you're not the first owner, don't expect FIAT to do anything. Apart from major faults (which are unusual), the third year warranty has little value.

Going slightly OT here, but you will be pleased to know that the indicators in the new Panda don't actually do this!:)

So you would imagine at some point in time the 500 will get this adapted part from the Panda....at least that's the theory!

Hi mossycardiff,

Did you speak to Fiat CS or your actual dealer?

If it was the latter, which dealer are we talking about? If you can let us know that could be helpful as there are several other official dealers in South Wales.
