Hi

Looking to buy my wife a new Twin Air S. On the fiat config it says space saver wheel and fix and go puncture repair kit. Does anyone know which one it comes with, hopefully its the space saver wheel.

First thing I did when I bought our old POP and now on our new TA was dump the space saver and stick a full size spare in the boot. Much better than any tyre repair kit (which we didn't get with our new car anyway) and I'd rather have a proper full size spare to put on if we get a puncture, than some awful skinny wheel, especially if you are out in the middle of nowhere.

Just lately, I'm seeing more and more people running around on space saving wheels because they are either too strapped for cash to go and buy a new tyre or they genuinely think they can get away with running around on these pathetic get you to a tyre shop wheels for weeks on end. The speed limit on these skinny space savers is about 50mph max or 80 kmph. I have regularly been overtaken on the M1 when I'm doing 70mph, by people clearly doing in excess of 80mph using space saver wheels.
I can't even begin to imagine the consequences of having to brake hard with one of these space saver wheels on, or hitting black ice with one on.

Please excuse my question if it's dumb, but does the full size spare fit in the well ok with the jack and other equipment?

I've not got a 500,but on every other car I've owned the jack and tools fit under the spare wheel, so yes in the well. I'm sure someone with a 500 will confirm this for you.

Not a dumb question at all. I have a full size spare in the wheel well with the inside of the wheel facing up. The screw down retainer is in place. The jack and tools in their nice plastic circle just sits inside the inner of the wheel just not secured down. The full size wheel is slightly more raised than the skinny space saver. I've just stuck our Haynes manual one side and the emergency triangle box the other side and then placed the genuine Fiat boot rubber liner on top to take up the height difference. Nothing rattles.

Not everyone wants to be bothered with a full size spare, but I have been caught out before miles from anywhere on holiday and believe me, the last thing you want is running around on a poor excuse of a get me to a garage option and then having to make a distress purchase on a make of tyre you could undoubtedly have bought cheaper elsewhere.

The Panda 100hp handles far nicer, but otherwise i prefer the 500 myself but it isn't the best car in the world

No, they're something that's easily sold on as they're frequently single use items. Personally I'm not that bothered in the uk, how far are you ever going to be from getting a tyre?

Not had the HP for a while now. Did really want to like the 500 and always thougt we would end up with one, but it wasnt to be. She is more than happy with what she got, so thats all that matters. (y)
