I was driving to work the other day and noticed a pale green 500L. Hadn't seen one in this colour before and it very much reminded me of YeYe Green from the 500 colour archives!

http://www.lookers.co.uk/fiat/used-cars/137509/fiat-500l/

I did a Google search as FIAT don't have any pale greens listed on their website, and it brought back the colour seen on the car above.

This coupled with Autocar's drive of a pale green 105 TwinAir 500 made me wonder if they're preparing to change the colour range again? And maybe finally see a pale green return to the range?

Thoughts?

Well, they already do Cappuccino (better known as British Leyland Hearing Aid Beige), let's hear it for Fiat Snot Green.

Well it certainly fits with the 500's heritage. Take the beige. If it was on any other car, it would look terrible. But on the 500, it fits with its retro character. Same as Countrypolitan Yellow.

No, I think the beige looks out of place on anything modern. We have a '55 Morris Minor in the garage in its original beige which definitely looks "right" for that car, although BMC only used the colour for about a year. Our 500's in Countrypolitan Yellow, let's just say it was a "brave" colour choice and leave it at that! ;)

"Vocal Green" is nothing short of bilious.

What people forget is that the 500 is a thoroughly modern car, it doesn't need these silly colours

That's true enough - thing is, back in the '70s, most Fiats dissolved in a couple of years so people forgot what colour they were. We're stuck with these modern versions.

Whatever happened to those Mk1 Vauxhall Corsas in that horrible purple? They all seemed to disappear overnight.

I hope not. Only because I am hoping to buy one in the near future and I want something a bit different;) Personally I love the colour, and think the interior looks great with the ivory ambiance.

There's a very good reason why it's not a very common colour. I'd worry about trade-in time if I were you...the salesman would either have a fit of the giggles or rush off to the toilet.

Still, if you needed to touch up a stone chip, all you'd have to do is sneeze on it.

Horses for courses but I'd have to disagree here, the 500 although modern is a retro car and IMO retro colours suit it well, ie, beige, yeye, tech grey etc. Personally I wouldn't buy a yeye but I definitely think it suits the 500 particularly with ivory ambience. At the end of the day it's all about choice - if you don't like it don't buy it.

Why not hack your legs off, remove your eyes with a spoon and insert gherkins into your eye sockets? Then you'll be different.

It's amazing the lengths that people will go to be "different" :)
