Hi!
I have a 2008 500 with dualogic transmission, which has sadly failed. First the transmission fuse and relay burnt out, and the pump motor windings were damaged. The motor has been repaired, but the transmission fuse is still blowing and the transmission fluid is leaking. Looks like the actuator itself is faulty, or the pressure switch is faulty. Any clue to what the cause of the fault could really be??

Thanks for any helpful advice.
Regards

Hi Charlie
Thanks for your reply. The gearbox now works ok for a couple of hours then blows the dualogic gearbox fuse, and the gears cannot change. I was told the ECU error code after the fuse blows, is P1773, which is a reference to the clutch solenoid failure.
The mechanic says the clutch solenoid looks ok, and after having repaired the gearbox pump's electric motor, and replaced the pressure switch, now wants to replace the actuator.
He says theres hydraulic oil leaking everywhere in the gearbox and thinks it must be from the faulty actuator.

Seems like it will be a very expensive troubeshooting session ... Grrrr :(

Cheers
Ben

Internet is full of people moaning about these

Mines died as well, hence scrapping the car!

The solenoids can be purchased separately. Have a look on the alfa forum as they have a similar system but called selespeed. There is a company that will recon your actuator. Most of the parts are available from fiat individually.

Hi actually my repair shop solved the problem after some trial and error. They first repaired the electric motor that drives the pump (replaced the windings which were burnt out), but the main fuse for the dualogic system kept blowing after a few miles of driving. They then fitted a fuse to each of the solenoids on the transmission, to understand if the main fuse was blowing due to one of the actuators (there are 3 as far as I understood, one for the clutch, and two that change gears).
It turned out the electric motor still had a fault to earth, when that was repaired, the transmission was fine, and it's done 4 days of driving ok now.

So bob1969's suggestion to check reconditions parts is good. Finding a repair shop that will do some troubleshooting on the dualogic and get reconditioned parts to replace what's faulty could be worth the trouble.

ben

PS: the leaking hydraulic oil from the dualogic transmission was due to overfilling, by mistake.

first of all hello to everyone,

I got a little question to you. I would appreciate it if you can help me solve my problem out. because I really start to hate this car.

here is the thing. I owe a 2005 1.2 panda duologic and I have the massage on the screen 'gearbox fail'. this following problem occured. The engine doesn't work under load. It can start when the gear is 'N'. but when I take it to the '1' gear. If I don't give full gas, the engine stops immediately. even if I give gas, it stops too. the same problem is there by slowing down too. The gear comes from '3' to '2' to '1' and when the car almost stops, the engine stops again.

I am really begging you. I would be very happy if you give me any suggestion to solve it. It seems electronical failure. thank you.

the clutch ok? sounds liek the engine stalls

(y)

that's what MEP said in the other thread,
doesn't sound like a gearbox issue

UNLESS the clutch is dragging..??

Charlie

It must be gearbox issue. Because I got the 'gearbox failure' warning in the gauge display. The problem is engine can rev up and accelarate if the car manages to move. But at many times it stops easily when I take the foot from the brake pedal(at the same time the clutch is trying to do its job). So the same thing happens when the car slows down. When the car almost stops the clutch doesn't sepereate and the engine stops again at the 3-4 km/h speed.
Do you have any idea how can I solve this issue?
Thank you

you know its funny as the resident dualogic failure company company i think i am getting closer to the final solution. There is a leak in my dualogic gear oil that is slow and persistent as in takes a few months to start being a problem. My garage told me the old solution would be to change the whole system at 2000 GBP, but he said he didnt think that was necessary other than simply monitoring the oil level.

i looked at it personally and yes there was a bit of oil outside of the tank and the level was below minimum. (this is the dualogic oil not the normal gearbox oil).

So basically i need to go and get my dualogic oil level checked every 2-3 months = ) beautiful! haha.

It would help to check it and top it up myself but as i am sure the dualogic experts on this forum will know, this is impossible as you need to go under the car and remove the undertray to check the dualogic oil reservoir!

Oops - I've just realised we're talking about a Panda, so I've copied the latest posts into a new thread which I've moved over to the Panda section as Scelik22 may get a better response there.

Please can you continue the discussion about Scelik22's car here (but continue in this thread if you've an issue with a 500 dualogic; sadly it may not be long before Ahmett needs to post here again).

Thanks - and sorry for not noticing earlier.

haha at least i can become the forums dualogic expert = ) if anyone has any questions please ask the forum! mind you my courtesy car is a 1.2 Panda that has been converted to LPG. Fun haha but feels like it has less torque down low then when running on petrol (you can choose both modes as you wish, petrol or lpg)

got my car back all leaks stopped. system still playing up when cold. car service people said forget it just drive it like this, to fix it completely the whole system needs replacing for 2000 euros. oh well, i guess i'll have to live with it. and now i am sure i wont buy an italian car again = )

You are right. But from my own experience, fixing it doesnt seem to work = ) Once messed up, always messed up!

That is probably true... the more (inexpert) interventions, the more likelihood of problems... See the original problem in this thread (pump motor) repaired not by fitting a replacement pump (substitute from another model), but instead by repairing the motor windings (!) - is it really a surprise that it didn't work?

It broke again ! This time I think for good. I may just end up replacing the whole system for 2000 euros just for piece of mind
