My son is a member of the Institute of the Motor Industry and gets the MIM magazine. This months magazine has just arrived and there is an article about a software issue on early diesel 500s where the DPF warning light doesn't illuminate so the DPF doesn't self clean, which means that a new DPF is required. Apparently there is some modified software available.

Main dealer would have updated any software on the car when it was last in for a service.
 
I was just posting in case anyone hadn't heard and was using an independent for servicing, there must be a few as this was in the magazine's problem page and the tech was trying to find out why the warning light hadn't illuminated.

It should only illuminate if there is a fault, I assume there was a fault with the DPF systems on the 500's it wasn't illuminating on then :confused:
