Quick question guys, now that I am out of warranty I can put whichever parts I want in the car.
Which ones would you prefer if you had the choice; Magnetti Marelli (owned by Fiat) aftermarket parts or Bosch (German engineering) aftermarket parts?

Or would you say there is no real difference and you would just go for the best price.

Magnetti Marelli are a lot better than they were years ago, but it is rare to get a duff Bosch part. However, OE is better than an equivalent that also fits, but was not specifically designed for that application.
My choice would be price led, get the Bosch if the price is right, but don't pay a lot more when a Marelli is cheaper.

If its on show - MM
If its hidden (like spark plugs) - Bosch
; )

I was asking because one indie only supplies mm parts saying italian cars want italian cars and the other is a licenced bosch service center that exclusively uses bosch parts (except for oil). They are both basically the same price so i am thinking bosch!

Same, place I'm working at currently deals with Bosch, I wouldn't hesitate to buy Bosch stuff either.

Yes I went to the Bosch service center personally to ask for a quote and the service manager really impressed me with his knowledge and honesty.
He checked my discs and pads and said no need to change them now, come in a few months, he went on the computer with me looking to take a look at the timing belt assembly and he saw that they said change at 120,000 km and without him being worried he said ok lets be safe and change it at 100,000 km and we'll do the auxiliary belt as well.
The rest he said yes we have all the spare parts except the transmission which bosch doesn't produce (magnetti marelli does only the dualogic).
So he said any general full fat or brake and timing belt services we can do them using Bosch parts, and he even told me if you want to change the suspension to billies I can get that fixed for you just bring the suspension as Bosch doesn't make it.

He quoted me ;
190 euros for a full fat service including labor + all Bosch spare parts and 5w-50 (not bosch obviously) oil.
(I can make it 168 euros by bringing 4 liters of oil myself)
he quoted me 266.16 euros all in for the Bosch front brake discs + pads
and he quoted me all in 260 Euros to change the timing belt + water pump + auxiliary belt with Bosch spare parts.

All parts covered automatically by Bosch 2 year warranty including parts and fitting.

These prices are the same as what my indie quoted me for magnetti marelli parts, so given all of this I think its best I go to the official Bosch franchise dealer.

My Bosch dishwasher has just lost a blade from the pump impeller, which blocked the spray bar. New impeller on order. Do Marelli make dishwashers?

Our bosch dishwasher lasted 10 years before replacement. If my car lasts that long without major issues ill be happy!

Magnetti Marelli, always.

When ever something electrical breaks in my Fiats or Alfa Romeos chances are it is a Bosch part. This also extends to Yanks, Bosch parts in your abs or other any system spell trouble.

Bosch washers, dryers and other household products however, seem quality products that can stand some serious usage. Go figure
