I've heard reports the TA is a bit spluttery & awkward to drive in traffic as opposed to the 1.2, has anyone any experience or views on this? Have to make up my mind shortly between a TA or 1.2 S.

My TA is perfectly at home in traffic or the open road. The TA has only two cylinders so sounds a bit lumpy at slow speed when cold, but that doesn't translate into bad manners in traffic.

I thought ours was a bit lumpy until we got used to it. It is actually just the sound of a two cylinder engine. After some 9000 miles it is a joy to drive. Does not like revs to be too low, but you will soon get the hang of it. Drives very smoothly about town in fourth gear at 30. Fifth gear is a no no at this speed. My Mokka diesel is quite happy in fifth gear at 30 but no way in the Twinair.
Twinair would definitely be my choice as it has wicked acceleration when needed to overtake, just drop into third and floor the accelerator.
It has turned out to be a very refined motor, just takes a wee while to get used to it, and definitely improves as miles stack up.

Yep totally agree with the two above : )
We have 1.2 and TA.
TA gets my vote every time.

The TA is so much easier in traffic than the 1.2. You can pull away easily like in a diesel with the car not being too fussy about the clutch control unlike the 1.2.

Why not just drive them both & see which one suits you best. Far better than relying on someone else's opinion.

FWIW, the 1.2 is perfectly happy in 5th at 30mph, which helps real-world urban economy.

True but very few TA's in Ireland at present and test driving a newish one may not be indicative of how they behave when fully run in and your fully used to driving it..

The 1.2 is more forgiving of low revs, pulling away in 2nd etc.
But, on the move, between 2500-5000 rpm the TA has loads of torque and by comparison the 1.2 feels very flat.
The TA will also pull up a hill in a high gear without having to change down due to its extra torque.
If you drive the TA in ECO it feels a bit less lumpy at low revs and is a similar performance to the 1.2.
I wanted the TA as it reminded me if the original, makes a great sound and has the performance of a 1.4, I can forgive its occasionally fussy behavior and lumpiness at very low revs.

We have had the Eco button turned off for the last couple of thousand miles and my wife now much prefers the drive. Also fuel consumption has improved quite markedly. Last few tank fills achieved 53MPG. Previously best achievement was 48MPG.

If you're not gonna use the power and instead use ECO why buy the TA?

If its the £30 road tax saving you seriously bought the wrong car.

Don't mean to rant but what a waste of an engine :(

Don't think you read my post properly. My ECO button has been turned OFF for last few thousand miles.
