My partners Gucci 500 TA has been recalled for its coil pack and also it has now covered about 8000 miles and is just over a year old so probably due an oil change or service.Im new here and also to the Fiat brand and have heard some horror stories about dealers, can anyone recommend a dealer around Lancashire/Cumbria/Greater Manchester?

Thanks in advance.

Whichever dealer you use make sure you the them to lift the car with the 'chassis outrigger' points and NOT the 'scissor jack' location points. They think because they use a rubber head on the hack its ok but it's not.
Almost 100% of dealers make this mistake and it bends/deforms the thin rail that runs along the sill.

I've not had anything serviced by them, but from going to look at cars to buy and from the amount of cars in the local area with dealer stickers on them, I think Richard Cort Italia near Bury would be worth a call.

I found them really approachable and genuinely helpful rather than just pushy. They're not a huge multi-franchise chain like so many dealers and there are a lot of cars on the roads in the area from them so they must have a good local reputation.

Having tried a few dealerships which, despite the stories you hear, have been mostly very good, I would probably still give them my business if I were to buy a new Fiat, despite me now living 170 miles away from them.

0161 767 9900 is their main number. (y)

Arnold Crap and Evans Helshaw sell loads of cars. However, their aftersales care is very well known to be shiite. I have had loads of problems with after sales care with every car I have bought from both of these cowboys. Stack em high and sell em cheap. Aftersales service is not what they are interested in

What commission are you on?;)

Sometimes you just can't win Liam : /

If only I was on commission, the amount of Fiats & Alfa's I've indirectly sold! - don't even seem to get a look-in getting a job with Fiat or Alfa as I've apparently not got enough experience. Never mind I probably know more about the cars than 90% of the sales staff - anyone would think they have the best dealer network in existence! I really can't win, it seems!

Not happy about it, but I have taken it very high-up & made some progress, so I've just gotta keep on it. Makes me wild when I hear tales of poor service on here though

Anyhow, Richard Cort seem sound in my experience. They're too far for me to approach for jobs :( but I'm sure they're one of the best bets for dealer service in that part of the Country.

You do realise I was only joking?
However, the point about loads of vehicles with their sticker is not really a good enough recommendation, hence my point regarding Arnold Crap and Evans Helshaw. Most vehicles around my part of Scotland have either of these dealers stickers on them. But that does not mean anything other than they probably offer the best price. I could write a book about my, and other family and friends and acquaintances experiences of this pair of !!!!!.
Peter Vardy do not offer a good price on new cars, in my experience they have always been well beaten by the other two main dealers I have mentioned. However, they do get a good reputation for aftersales service.
My local Vauxhall, Peugeot and Fiat dealers closed due to their inability to offer competitive pricing on new cars. However, they all stayed open to offer servicing as they had a good reputation for service.
Strikes me that the big boys cannot be beaten for pricing on new vehicles and the smaller franchises offer the best bet for aftersales and servicing. Just my tuppence worth based on almost 40 years of car ownership.

My favour would swing toward Preston Motorpark (FIAT & ABARTH) (@oodj is your man for parts too!!)

I used to find the service of Blackburn Motorpark (FIAT & ALFA) to be of a good standard with very helpful service managers (though a change of staffing has occoured)

This combined with the fact I now live closer to Preston means they are my first choice.

One to avoid is Oldham Motorpark!! Incorrect brake pads had been fitted by them to my 500 sport before collection and upon braking this was glaringly obvious.

I did yeah. It's just a bit of a sore subject at the moment!

Totally agree about a lot of the big chains. Good for a deal, but don't go back till you wanna buy another car.

The dealer I'm talking about only has one showroom in a suburban area & is much like a small family-owned Renault dealer I worked for, which also had a strong local reputation. All the cars with their stickers are in the local area so I would imagine (combined with my own impression of them) that if they were like the Arnold Clarks of this World then word would get round the local community quite quick that they're not up to much. A dealer with one site isn't going to last long unless they offer the complete package of service I think.
