Hi my 500 multijet has developed a problem.
Last week the engine started making a whooshing sound when accelerating then the next day the engine management light came on and the car went into a limp mode which is very under powered and won't rev beyond 3000rpm. When I checked underneath I found a small hole in the bottom intercooler boost pipe. I renewed the pipe but the engine stayed in limp mode with the light still on. I took the car to my local garaged to get the diagnostics plugged in. The only code said it was 'diesel particulate filter on its 1st stage of being blocked' the guy reset the fault and I took the car around the block. Great, all fixed and back up to full power with light off. Mechanic said with the boost pipe being split the car may have been overfueling and blocked the dpf filter. Anyway on my way home (about 2mile) the light came back home and back down to half power.
So my next question is if the car won't stay out of limp mode for long enough for it to do a dpf regeneration how do I clean it out. I have tried revving the car on the road to get it hot enough to do a regen but with it only revving to 3000rpm I don't think it's working.
Please help. The car drives ok but is slow and I don't want to damage it.

Your advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks Scott.

I would take it to a dealer. It may well need a forced regen or there may be another issue.
