General Fiat 500 twin air 1yr service

you've missed out "sundries"= at least £80 , + VAT naturally.

that's why mine will be going to Palmer + Phillips - Oxfords Fiat/ Alfa specialists - do all my major / warranty service work.:worship:
Sorry, I forgot 37p worth of grease and 79.63 pounds of washer fluid :)

You guys are ace! I'm going to buy me some parts and ill let you know how I get on! Is there a specific service schedule for fiat or is a one year service pretty much standard. I hate to lose my warranty because my local garage didn't grease the hinges on the ashtray as per fiat's instructions!

Just so you know, if they don't grease the hinges on the ashtray then you will only lose the warranty on the ashtray or anything that's affected by the ashtray :)

The service schedule is contained in your service book as well as your user manual :)

tbh you don't need to service the TA until 18000 miles, however its wise to have the oil and filter changed now and then have the full service before 2 yrs are up, I say 2 yrs so to be within the Fiat warranty period and have anything fixed before the warranty goes into the 3rd year "no mans land warranty".

For the recent 18,000 mile service on my TA I tried to source the parts however the amount of time required to source the correct TA parts and the small cost saving wasn't worth it. My local fiat dealer charged £250 all in for the full 18k service plus another £100 for pads and brake fluid change (this could have waited another 6 months). For a competent person these may be outrageous amounts to pay but you will have the satisfaction if anything goes wrong, you can knock on Fiat's door and they will (hopefully) look after you and not blame the parts you supplied.

Fortunately I AM being looked after by my dealer and they are also giving me the next service free - long story.

For this service just get the oil & filter changed by a fiat dealer, TA spark plugs are expensive but will be fine till 18k. And if you really want to, then buy the other filters online and change them yourself.
I don't live far from you, PM me for dealers I spoke to whilst negotiating. Hope this helps !!

edit: if you really want to save some money, just get the proper oil and filter and see if Bagunn can change for you at whatever cost, he was looking to start out.

ROFL. 190 quid on parts!

1x 4 litre bottle of Castrol edge 5w40
2 x spark plugs
1 x air filter
1 x oil filter
1 x pollen filter.

QUICK QUESTION....
I've seen differences Numerous times in this forum re Oil for TA...
Please clarify, is it 5w40. Or. 10w50?

Cheers guys :)
Esp bgunn who
I've already learnt from loads about the 500

If I wanted to say 10w50 I'd have said 10w50 :)

I didnt actually say Ýöü did........
I only asked what I thought was a simple Valid question - as I have seen in this forum, not just this thread (I did say Forum) differences in Oil stated for TA.

Thanks once again to the likes of bgunn and jrkitching arorat and other very helpful people who

Lots of people say stuff, read your manual or find someone like bgunn, jrkitching or myself who all sing from the same hymm sheet and know what we're talking about when we say something :) Whoever said 10w50 for a TA needs shooting :)

The Parents had their 1 year old 500 TwinAir serviced at Grays of Warwick today. It's only done 11,200 miles so a Low Mileage service was carried out. Was quoted £135.00, but it was actually £129.00 on collection & a further £50 reduction was applied as we had vouchers from Fiat UK, so the total paid was £79.

They did the Ignition Coil recall & checked the alternator following a start-up issue a couple of months ago, and washed and hoovered it.

Parents were asked if they wanted the pollen filter replaced but said it can wait for the main 18,000 service.

I know they got a discount because we bought the car from Grays, but it still wouldn't have come out at £350! I got a bit twitchy about £135 but £350 is outrageous. Did they key in the reg number incorrectly & have a Ferrari F430 come up on their system do you think?
