Technical TwinAir OIL consumption..??

hi,
I've read a few reports of HEAVY oil consumption on the TA's, some running dry..!!
I suspect it's due to the variated valve-gear - common issue on the TS Alfa's.

anybody noticed any strange oil consumption on their TA..??,

thanks,
Charlie
Who told you that? I haven't heard about this on this forum. Any TA drivers care to contribute?

Mine has been great

From 0-16000 miles it used exactly 1/2 Litre

From 16000 miles to 17200 it used another 1/4 Litre (Due to leak from Head Gasket)

From 17200 to 22400 Miles its still exactly the same place on the dipstick from where it was when the HG was changed and it was serviced.

So have no concerns with Oil Consumption on mine,

HG-- Head Gasket (Had a leak from it). Was changed under warranty

Can't see how people can be running them dry, the TA has (As far as I am aware) an internal oil sensor that shuts the engine down if the level drops too low..

No discernable drop when I had the oil changed at 10000m, same again for the 18000 service.

It doesn't shut the engine off but sounds a beep and 'low oil pressure - turn off engine' is displayed on the dash. I'm a little worried about mine as when I checked the dipstick at 1000km there was only a trace of oil at the very bottom, the 'Lego Technic' dipstick doesn't seem to be the easiest to read.
