Trying to find information how to update the software at the fiat as well as the tomtom web sites. No success. You can give some valid information? Thanks.

1) Download the appropriate version* from www.blueandme.net
2) Extract the contents of the zip file to the root of an otherwise empty USB stick
3) Disable bluetooth on your phones/other devices you normally connect to the car to avoid them trying to connect as you update the B&M
4) Place the USB into the socket on the car (not the socket directly on the B&M control unit), turn the key to ON, but don't start the car.
5) Watch the display, it will come up 'Installing...' - do NOT start the car or turn off the key
6) It'll take at least 5-8 mins to install, you might get a message that says 'Restarting..' - don't turn the ignition off.
7) Eventually a message will come up on the display saying 'Complete' - you can then turn off the ignition and remove the key.

*If your car is older than mid 2011, you'll need the Gen 1 update (max version is 5.6), otherwise you'll need the Gen 2 update (v 6.0 currently). The easiest way to tell whether you have the Gen 2 Blue & Me unit is whether you need an iPod/iPhone adapter to play music - if you don't, you have the later unit.

Buy one of these.

I followed these instructions but fall over at number 5 - I plugged in the USB pen drive, turned on and nothing happens.

I have tried several things and am pulling my minimal hair out.....

Any advice?

The USB stick needs to be formatted into a Windows format. We have Apple Macs and the car doesn't recognise anything if we format a stick normally as Mac OS Extended, good job we are able to format as MS-DOS (FAT) instead.

Maybe your stick isn't formatted correctly?

Good luck,
Mick.

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have the problem of my blue and me not working at all. I've tried disconnecting the battery but that hasn't reset it. I've also done steps one to five, but when I plug in the USB to my car nothing happens?! The Blue and me hasn't worked in my car for over a year and I'd really like to have it working again!!

All help appreciated,

Ryan

Ryan, hi and welcome to the forum.

Some extra info about your car may be helpful, what engine/trim and how old is the car?

Don't want to start putting you off already, but if you've followed other forum members instructions here and you've had no luck, you may want to consider nipping to your local Fiat dealership. Yes, it will cost you, but as I would always point out, if the car hasn't had the benefit of a main dealership service for more than quite some time, then there will undoubtedly be software updates that will need applying to the vehicle anyway. Diagnostics are usually part of the service and so if you were to mention about the B+M not working, I'm sure they'd sort that fault out. If your car is over 3 years old, many Fiat dealerships do fixed price servicing, so might be worth a shot.

I have a 2007 Grande Punto Sporting 1.4 16V.

I haven't had the car serviced by Fiat but just a local garage.

Another problem I have is that the rear parking sensors don't work.

It would appear, you've posted in the wrong forum section entirely then ;)

My initial advice still stands, especially now you've stated your car is a 2007 model. I'm hazarding a guess here, that the car hasn't had a dealership service for many years? That's fine, except whilst many independent garages are excellent at what they do (trust me, I still use them, only yesterday in fact for a minor job I couldn't do), the small independents just don't have specific marque diagnostic kit to remedy problems and some can't even reset the oil service indicator on much more modern vehicles because of the expense of investing in manufacturer specific software. Therefore, a specialist Fiat or Alfa independent would be worth a punt because they are likely to have the diagnostic kit.

I hope you can get it sorted, but it may be worth looking in the relevant Fiat forum section. https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/

Thanks for the help. I've posted in the right forum now :).

Would you suggest going direct to the local Fiat dealer? Or would you say to go to an Fiat/Alfa independent specialist?

Well I wouldn't go to either without getting quotes first. I'd also be enquiring of any specialist independent, that they do actually have the kit to scan your vehicle diagnostically, which if they are good, then they will have.

I still think about whacking the car into a Fiat dealership for a service. Don't know where you are based, but this should give you an idea of service costs:

Hi I really need help please! I have a fiat 500 57 plate, I bought the blue and me USB on ebay and I have not the first clue what to do. I thought it was going to be simple, plug it in and away I go. I mainly want it for Bluetooth so I can call on the go, but when I plug it in nothing happens. I gave the 1.4 sport and the windows buttons etc are on my steering wheel so I'm sure it had it installed. How can I find out quickly whether I have blue and me? I have searched hoe to unzip the files etc on blue and me.net but to tell you the truth, I don't really understand it. I've plugged the USB into my laptop, extracted files nothing happens I'm so stuck. It's probably very easy but I'm not very tech savvy, can anyone help or call me private message me or something even someone living close by (coventry) wouldn't mind helping haha. No I just don't want to go to the fiat garage and look stupid before I know everything I need to.

Thanks everyone :)
