Hi just traded in my bŷdiesel for an ypsilon Black & Red (a fiat 500 with 5 doors )

Is my s&s faulty I've only done 200miles
And it has never kicked in am I just been paranoid or is there a run in period before it works.
Any reply would be great :)

Thanks Tommy

Mine worked for the first time about 3-4 miles from collecting it. Give the dealer a call if it continues. If you have the radio/heaters etc on though it doesn't always come on cause, like its been said, the battery level isn't high enough. It also 'knows' when you're starting and stopping, so if by you its anything like where I live, it won't turn off because it knows you're going to be going again very soon. I.e in a bumper to bumper queue.

That's not true - it'll stop if all the conditions are there for it to. The owners manual details them, basically:

Engine coolant temp too low
Heated rear window on
Wipers on full speed
Climate control (fan) at high speed
Car moving
Clutch pedal held down
Battery charge level below around 70% of the charge it had when the system was first initialised

It'll restart the engine and disable the S&S if you've been stationary for more than 3 minutes.

It doesn't 'know' anything else..

It obviously doesn't know anything. Senses would have been the better word.
So if you're in a queue and the engine temp isn't there or the battery is being used by things such as you quite rightly mentioned, it won't always stop the engine. Is what I was getting at.
