Hey everyone, so I've had my Fiat 500 for almost a year now, and just coming up to renewing my car insurance...when I got to the question about security.

Just wondering...do Fiat 500's come with a standard alarm?!

Confused .
Probably should have known this after a year! Lol.

Ahhh right, well thank you for replying :)
Bit annoying not having an alarm!

Very few cars have them now no one ever takes any notice of them anyway..

simple check if yours has had one fitted by a dealership you should see two nipple shaped black sensors on the door pillars and a 10p size led unit on the dash somewhere

Or smash a window and if it starts making a noise and the lights start flashing you have an alarm if not you don't.

Hope that helps.

Car alarms are basically obsolete these days a good thief can nick a car without the alarm ever going off! Immobilizers are replacing them. A dealer offered me a 'free alarm and parking sensors' with the car but i told them i want a 'free' interscope radio system instead!

True. You always hear alarms going off, and never take any notice.
Just seemed a little odd, with my previous cars having an alarm :).
Thanks for all the answers!

Same story Ahmett. They offered the alarm and I refused. It was a nightmare with the Beetle, it was starting beeping out loud with no particular reason. :p

I can see people's point about no one taking any notice of car alarms, but they can be quite useful. I was jacking up my Caddy a couple of months back to take off a wheel and inspect a brake disc. I'd forgotten that I'd locked the car prior to jacking it off the ground, Nearly had a heart attack when the alarm went off due to the anti-tilt mechanism kicking in, which I suppose if someone was intent on nicking your catalytic converter in the middle of the night, it might just wake you up!

:yeahthat:
I like the piece of mind that a car alarm gives. The factory one fitted to the MiTo tells you when an 'attempted break-in' has taken place. It also discourages neighours 'touch bumping' when they're parallel parking.:(
