I am wanting to end my service plan early as I have found that the last time I went to the Fiat garage in Aylesford, Maidstone they gave me a list of things that needed looking at and repairing totalling £1100.00  Took my car to a local garage that I had been recommended for a second opinion and got told apart from a new windscreen wiper, nothing else is wrong with the car :D

Anyone ended their service plan early?

Thank you

You need to read the terms and conditions and see what they says.

I would also call Fiat head office and trading standards. It is also worth taking your car to another independent garage for another opinion, you never know the first one may have been rubbish.

Can you tell us what the £1100 was for. Did it include 4 x tires, full service, blah blah blah? What i am getting at is there must be a serious list of things that are broken or scheduled for it to come anywhere near that figure. If you are on a service plan i presume that figure didnt even include the service cost which is even more amazing

Funny you should mention that garage !,i'm just in the process of complaining to Fiat about them, even though they consulted the computer, they advised me that the cam belt wasn't due until 6 years or 72k miles, well they got it half right.

Just use the service plan, just because they say it needs work it doesn't mean you have to get it done, just smile and walk away.

Exactly. The thing with a service plan is that it's like walking into the dealership with a t-shirt that says you enjoy paying over the odds and are gullible. I challenge anyone to actually show me how a service plan benefits the customer at all. The cost is inflated, the dealership gets to hold your money and earn interest on it and they get to lock you in also.

problem is its like a giant fishing hook with a big donner Kabab hanging off it outside the local pub on a friday night... ........

people are lured by the free / cheap services and if they get one in every five punters caving in to none warranty wear and tear work they are :ROFLMAO: my sister got well versed before her service and i saved her well over £100)

get the free bit then go get a second opinion for any remidial work..... BUYER BEWARE:D

Often a heavily discount or even free service plan is thrown in with the deal so it's free, don't knock it:)

You are quite right I think. Three years ago we bought a new Volvo XC90 with a huuge discount (time of the first big petrol price rise) and got a 3 year service plan thrown in with the deal. Next year it will be its first paying service so obviously I'll take it to the local indi for a fraction of a price dealership might charge. I look at it this way: saved paying dealership astronomical prices and kept warranty not to mention no hustle pick up and drop off of the car... Good deal I say!

Exactly, 3 years free or heavily discounted servicing, must be mad to refuse it. Whether you like dealers or not is immaterial however I'm a firm believer in dealer servicing for first 2/3 years.
True, but most Fiat ones aren't quite as favourable to the customer :)

Surely, you just don't take the car back. Yes you lose the money you've paid out already but no one is twisting your arm to take the car to the dealer for a service. If your hoping to get some money back then that probably won't happen but there's nothing to stop you going anywhere you want for a service and as has been stated before as long as fiat parts and schedules are followed warrenties are not voided.
