Hi all,

I know a lot of people on here or searching around the forums are looking for 'real world' fuel economy updates. I know I was before I joined up, so I wanted to share my fuel economy and how the car is after having done 500 miles from brand new.

1.2 Lounge S/S BNW. 50.5mpg on my daily commute. 53-55mpg outside of commute. 46-48mpg average in and around town. 500 miles on the clock.

I am averaging in the real world 50.5mpg on my commute and this is on a still very tight engine as it is so new and the economy should only get better as the car 'loosens up'.

My general daily commute is a 30 mile round route, with 30% dual carriage way, 50% country town/village single carriageway driving and 20% stop/start in city traffic. As you can see quite a varied and 'real world' drive so I am really happy with my 50.5mpg average. The last section of my route is all uphill on some very steep hill sections which require higher revs in 3rd gear and if it wasn't for this section then the economy would be even better. The hilly section seems to be costing about 3mpg on the average based on the trip computer.

I drive with a light foot, with economy in mind, but I do 'keep up with the traffic' and take the car up to the legal limits on the dual carriage so I dont drive like a saint and I could be even more economy conscious in my driving.

With all of these things considered and the fact that the engine is so new I am really pleased with the fuel economy of the Fiat 500 1.2 and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hope that helps some people.

Kind regards,

D

P.S. - I am suffering from horrendous economy...with the window washer fluid.
**** British weather lol

That's pretty normal tbh. My wife's is quite capable of 50mpg but that's on a decent run. Around town on her 2-3mls tootle and school run where it doesn't get warmed up its more like 43-45. That's ok though because its pretty harsh to expect anything more.

On a good run like yours it's a lovely little motor

That's from my calculations brim to brim. In fact they are within 0.5 mpg of the trip computer so I'm very impressed with the 500's trip computer.
