Roof on cabrio opened by itself!

Hello, hopefully I'm posting in the appropriate forum Yesterday I went out to my car to find the roof halfway opened! This seems impossible to me. It's cold where I live now and has been raining for 3 weeks solid so there is zero chance I left it open. I haven't opened it in a month. How on earth could the roof have opened without the car being turned on. I'm very worried it will happen again and get snowed or rained in all night long and ruin the car. My car is a 2012 and I have had it for 5 months. I would be interested to see if this has happened to anyone else. Thanks!

Re: Roof on cabrio opened by itself!

Any sign of it being forced open by a thief?

No, everything was fine . The first thing I checked was that my nav was still in the glove box. It hadn't been open for very long as it had been raining non stop but the interior was still dry, thank goodness!

Is there a button on the key to open the roof? I often find our automated garage door open because I have sat on the fob.

Im pretty sure the roof/windows can be opened by the key, they can on my bravo, just a case of holding the unlock button, id say its this if it was only halfway open

Re: Roof on cabrio opened by itself!

If you hold down the open button on the keyfob it will open the roof/windows

So it could be someone accidentally pressed/sat on the fob..?

Just an idea.

Yes- If you hold down the 'open' button for 2 seconds it will slide open the roof (only) on my 500c,so presume same on all?

Re: Roof on cabrio opened by itself!

It worked!! I was carrying a big basket out the door the other day. I probably was accidentaly pressing on the key fob. Who knew!! Thanks for solving the mystery!
