Hi All! I have been doing a little maintenance on my gf 2009 1.2 pop, I researched and replaced the front discs and pads but now need to tackle the rear shoes!
I cant seem to find any decent links or step by steps/videos showing how to do it.:bang: Can anyone help? Apologies if I am being stupid and missing an obvious link! I just dont want to take it apart and find I need additional bits like fixing kits or new springs etc...

Many thanks in advance!

Alan

Don't want to sound mean but there is a Haynes manual available for the Panda and 500 and that will be a good place to get background info and guidance for such a task. :)

In the meantime, how about https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/299784-handbrake-renewal.html which shows how to take the shoes off a Punto, I bet that's a similar design - I've found brakes don't change much between similarly-sized cars from the same manufacturer.

Strong pliers are useful to pull off the springs. If you do one brake assembly at a time, you can always refer to the other side as a check.

Also, again this might be a bit rude, but have you verified that the rear shoes actually need replacing - if you can see 2.5mm of lining thickness all around the circumference, they will probably be OK for another year. In my experience they last more than twice as long as the front pads (I'm surprised they need doing on a 2009 car.)

Cheers,
-Alex
