You might want to search the forum using the term "DPF regeneration". Not an issue which comes up much these days but when I first joined there were a few sufferers.

(I have a petrol so cannot add much I'm afraid.)

I don't know about Fiats but with the Ford Diesel, a light comes on to tell you its in regen mode, ideally you shouldn't stop until its completed the cycle. With the Ford you need to keep the fuel level above 1/2 way otherwise it won't go into regen as it doesn't think there is enough fuel to complete the regeneration.

If you need to try and force it, keep it near 3k in 4th gear and drive it at a steady speed for around 20 minutes. Like i say this is for a Focus diesel but some of the principles may still apply.

If it won't come out of regeneration mode then it could be the filter blocked and need replacing £800 + VAT on a 1.6 TDCi(n)

Having just cleaned mine on a 1.3 Multijet its not the EGR being clogged its the clogging effect were the EGR nossle enters the inlet manifold, it suts up the around the EGR nossle end efectively restricting the manifold inlet were the turbo boost pipe bolts to the manifold. Driving around town is not good for it or fuel consumption. Give it the Beens:slayer:after you have cleaned it.(y)
