Had my 500 Twinair Plus for a couple of weeks now and can say that it's been a load of fun so far. Really nippy, feels sturdy - just love it!

Just a couple of questions that I hope someone can shed some light on...

The engine does shake the car a bit, if I'm stationary or have just started the car then I do feel the car shaking. It's like the engine wants to stop, but doesn't. The rev counter doesn't move too much, a couple of jumps.. Stop/Start is working fine though. This happens if I've driven 1 mile or 50 miles.. makes no difference. But wonder if the shaking is because of the engine and this is normal? Does anyone else have the same in their Twinair's?

This one isn't very important, but it's about the passenger side window - I have to hold my finger on the button for the window to go up. The down button works fine - so I press it for a couple of secs and it automatically winds down. On driver side it works absolutely fine. Have read that there are a few niggles with electronics.. Anyone know if that's normal?

Cheers

The passenger window does not have a "one shot" close option like the driver's side does. Health and safety type stuff.

Ah, right - cheers, Robin! Health and safety stuff - say no more :)

Dont you love H&S , Like you can open the roof with the remote if the car is locked but you cannot close it with the remote in case some plank in the car gets stuck in while closing.

With regards the shaking, don't notice it in mine, yes its a unique tickover but cant say it shakes the car

What RPM is it reading at Tickover, (Mine is about 800/850 RPM)

Am I not the only one who feels that this is a completely sensible bit of design?

Darwinian Evolution, if you are stupid enough to stick your head up through a closing roof then the bit that gets decapitated is not likely to be important in terms of cognative ability... :D

All the cars I have owned in the US have allowed Roof closure by remote, and if the Americans can figure it out surely Europeans should be able to :D

(Humour before anyone gets offended!)

I get what you're saying, but the risk of having someone seriously hurt very much outweighs any inconvenience caused by having to do it manually.

I've got to be honest, and say if its an adult let them get hurt .... for kids i'd feel differently :)

I recall that one of the (few) good things to come out of the TV show "That's Life" was the mechanism that causes electric windows to "release" and drop a fraction if they encounter resistance. This was following a child's death I recall.

Not sure if the fact you have to keep your finger on the switch is an alternative to that sort of system - if it is then I would prefer the kind that drops back down when it hits something. I do agree that you shouldn't really need both, even with kids.

The motor mounts are very flexible. Open your bonnet and watch the motor move as you rev it. This is why you feel the shaking. This and the fact that your only getting 1/2 as many combustions per revolution.
It's barely noticeable in my car, but then my other car is a 2.0 diesel and my last small car was a 3cyl, 1.0 litre, both of which aren't the smoothest at idle

The Parents have had their new Twinair Lounge since March & ours is just the same. When i've had the stereo on fairly loud i've turned it off momentarily because the sudden shake made me think the car had stalled, but it hadn't. Now i've noticed that the rev counter does jump now & again when idling. Not by much, but it does. I'd imagine it's just all the emission controls & sensors fighting eachother - a newish Clio i had a few years back was the same but since then i've had older petrol cars or diesels, which don't seem so sensitive. Keep an eye on it but unless it gets worse i'd just put it down to how the engine/electronics are.

The windows are also the same as ours - one-touch up & down for drivers window but only one-touch down on the passenger side, in-line with other members, so no worries there (y)

Have not had this experience with my TA and on tick over the rpm remain constant.
