Hello,

I just came across this regarding Congestion charging for twinair!

Over the course of the next 12 to 18 months, it is anticipated that new electric and hybrid electric plug-in vehicles will be brought to market with significantly lower emission levels. We'll monitor developments in the market and keep discount criteria under review, with the intention of reducing the discount levels to 80g/km or lower when the time is right. The review of discount criteria will be carried out in 2012.

I assume you mean London?
of course these things will be under review
as emissions levels drop, more and more cars fall under the charging level
so they would move the goalposts to make it only the most efficient

Yes london! If they lower it i guess no TA in London without congestion charge. Lets see if they do.

I reckon they'll leave it for another year - maybe make it a mayoral election pledge to review it.

If Boris gets in, I can't see it changing quickly..

Oh and that warning statement has been there for ages, you even sign a disclaimer when buying a TA saying that whilst Congestion Charging is free now (apart from the yearly £10 registration fee), the mayor could change it at any time. It's nothing 'new' per se.

If Boris gets back in you're probably ok for a while. If Ken gets back in I wouldn't be surprised to see all the current freebie cars get the chop.

I dont understand what type of person you would have to be to vote for red ken.

Lets face it we knew it would happen the government is all for changing the goal posts when it suits them.

I've got everything possibly cross that RedKed* does not get in again, living near the CC zone chances are the insane mad man* will extend it!

Always a gamble as has been said,

I registered mine on the 30th March 2012,

even if a change is implemented in a 2012 review I was told it would not come in till April 6th 2013 so reregistering at the end of March 2013 would give me another,

1 year would offset the cost of the TA over the 1.2 2 years would see a clear financial advantage and if it lasted for 3 that would just be the icing on the cake

As has been said it aint going to last forever, but while it does it is making the TA very competitive against other engines.

As with the Zero Road Tax, as more cars creep under 100Gkm its going to make it hard to sustain at that level, but at least the TA is always going to be in a Low Bracket!
