General Fiat 500 TwinAir mpg?

General Fiat 500 TwinAir mpg?

Just asked her, she says she averaged 65 to 70 mph in ECO mode, just her in the car, no luggage or anything else. The car has now just crept over 3k. I took it out for a spin the other day and took it off ECO mode. It makes me laugh like billy'o when you put your foot down, it just seems to fly

I took my TA for an 'Eco' spin when it had about 1000 miles up and got 67mpg over a 60 mile journey. I dident drive that slowly but made a conscious effort to drive very smoothly and to be fair I had little or no traffic on a good road. I notice now with 3500 miles up that the car is much more flexible in Eco mode and pulls quite well but like you say, when you switch back to normal mode it takes off with a surprising push and produces a very large grin. I expect it will continue to loosen up over the next few K. My everyday typical mpg over a tank is around 47 on the trip for mixed conditions although I can easily get 60 on an individual journey. It'll be interesting to get some running reports back from 105 owners and see how they fair. I suspect the 85 will give the optimum compromise between grin factor & economy.

Slightly off topic, but how accurate are the trip computers? I used to have a Punto mk2b 1.2 8v, and I noticed that the average mpg figure moved in 0.2 or 0.3 increments, to the point of knowing what the next figure would be if the mpg was going up! I have recently upgraded to a Grande Punto 1.4, and I have noticed that the mpg figure seems to fluctuate less, so I assume it's more accurate than the computer in my old mk2b?

I find mine pretty good, I'd say about 5% optimistic but I havent done an accurate brim to brim test. I'm not that worried tbh and you can get over obsessed with mpg which in turn ruins the enjoyment of the car. The trips are certainly indicative enough though.

I did a couple of brim-brim comparisons with my trip computer and found it to be about 2% optimistic - pretty good.
Ahmett, you're not too far off with your estimate - I get 48-50mpg from my TA cruising on the motorway at an indicated 70-75mph.

It's true the TA has terrible ecomony.

Have a look at Jaguar's 800hp, 0-100MPH in 6 seconds, 75MPG fuel sipper:
