Daylight running bulbs

Please before I ask my question, no-one jump on me and say read the manual, or search the forum. I have done both, and not found the answer....
I want to replace the DRLs with whiter lights, the manual says W21/5W but I can't seem to find any bulbs that are described as exactly that. It's easy with H7 and H1!
I have found these on autobulbs, are they the right ones, because when you input the 500 details, it says DRLs not applicable!

"501 W5W Xenon Extreme White Side light bulbs (pair)"

On another note, I changed the dipped beams for osram nightbreakers at the end of October, and one has gone already. I've used them on another vehicle and not had such a short life, do you think that is normal?

They're well known for their short lifespan. The Nightbreaker Plus bulbs are supposedly better in this respect:

http://www.osram.com/osram_com/Consu...LUS/index.html

Quoting from the manufacturer's website:

NIGHT BREAKER PLUS have up to 50% more lifetime compared to the first generation of NIGHT BREAKER headlamps..

That still might not be very long, though.

Re: Daylight running bulbs

Yes, I had the original nightbreakers and they lasted over a year. The ones I bought in October are the nightbreakers Plus, just checked my order..

There doesn't seem to be a link to the DRL bulbs you mention. My findings are that the DRLs are twin-filament 5W/21W T20 bulbs, and I haven't yet found a road-legal whiter alternative.

Re: Daylight running bulbs

The ones that several people on this forum use are PIAA H-366.
You can find them on e-bay, but they're not e-marked.

There are some previous threads on this topic with photos if you want to see what they look like compared to standard bulbs

Re: Daylight running bulbs

I've had the Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs in (dipped and main) for 14 months - still going strong. A huge improvement on the original bulbs and a whiter light.

You could try Polarg M13 bulbs for the DRLs. They have the same wattage as the oem bulbs but a whiter light. They're not e-marked though, but are no brighter than the standard bulb. I've had one bulb go so far.

There is a UK eBay seller with the Polarg bulbs at a ridiculous 12 per bulb but you can get a pair from sellers in the US for about 10 delivered.
