I work at AmD essex, a tunning company, so gey my car serviced there now. I previously had services at Glyn Hopkins in Milton Keynes and St.Albans, also one service in Italy.

We do not have the right equipment to reset the service light so I called Glyn Hopkins in St.Albans and was quoted £45 + vat just to reset the light. I then thought I would give Hartwell Ford,Fiat and Peugot in Dunstable a call. Yes Sir that'll be £15 + vat and we'll do it while you wait.

you can actually download the software that fiat use in their examiner devices(they also use tablet pc version of windows xp) to your computer and connect to your car with a serial port. but as you might guess it'll spoil your warranty, which apperantly you don't have any more :)

before you ask, i just know a garage who did that but i don't have the information where they got the software

It was the oil light flashing and oil service message on the dial.

Thanks for the download advice.

This is why I would never buy a DPF multijet because it's questionable when/where the car was serviced and if any potential or real damage has occured by not telling the /ecu the oil has been changed.

You could say that about any car ? I have a full service history and the light was re set at a Fiat dealership within a hundred miles of the oil change being done.

Light in cluster was reset yes, but the ECU should of also been reset as this records details.

Buy a DPF diesel with oil light simply put out but oil not changed and oil deg not reset then you run the (very likely) risk of diesel in the sump!

But I changed the oil as soon as the "Oil service " light came on and then got the dealer to re set it.
