This 1969 pro street camaro SS with 750+HP (Youtube) was on the Clontarf road (beside the sea) in Dublin last Saturday along with a few historic Fiat cars. When I was having a gander at a 695 and a 131 Abarth this muscle car made its entrance. Had a little chat with a 'handler' of the car and the conversation went a little like this...
Is that you car ? No. Selling it a for guy who imported it from the California I hate to ask you this which how many miles to gallon does it do ? I thought you were going to ask me how fast does it go Well - how many gallons to the mile does it do ? OK - now we're talking. If you take it easy keeping below 60 on the open road you might see 5mpg. You know it will do 0-100 in 5 secs but it will use a lot more fuel doing that. How much ? €45K and not a penny less .... it probably should be a museum somewhere.... .....thanks for showing me the car...
To get it to drive on 'normal' roads he has to put a space in the front suspension to lift it by an inch.
EDIT: The guy who owns the 695 (I wasn't too sure if it was the real mccoy) also owns a Fait 1100 (Unfortunately I've no pic) and the 131 Abarth - his name is on the window. He has loads more cars including a 131 Abarth in Orange with fibreglass wings apparently worth €70K. He drives a '08 1.2 Lounge in BNW with white ambiance and red leather as an everyday car. He was working that day and couldn't be there.
I had to make a little trip to an 'old haunt' of mine yesterday in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin (where the ferry from Holyhead comes in !). I noticed that my late Grandparents house had a new driveway with a rather unusual design . I wonder if the Arnold 2 year warranty will cover a little mishap with the centre 'bollard' in the driveway opening.
At the end of road you have the District court and a dodgy time of the day is in the early afternoon when some of the 'defendants' get either fined or banned from driving. For those on in the morning it's generally a slap on the hand but if you postphoned til the afternoon its curtains.
Did you notice the Fiat 500 in the new Discover Northern Ireland TV advertisement - it's a Pop with the chrome kit. Prices down south are cheaper (just thought I'd put a 'plug in' since I have no car cover for sale ). You're all welcome to pay us a visit - just bring pleny of €€€.
