Thanks for your excellent researching!
The things I'm wondering about is if the gearbox is gonna be a problem. I mean, I just want to get some more power on the highway and the pressure on the gearbox is mostly when acc and changing gear 1->2->3?
I have a personal interest in knowing the limits on the 6 speed gearbox on the standard 1.4 and had explored my options in relation to 'improving' it. The gear ratios on the MJ are on this...

When I looked for some information on re-mapping it I came across an old thread...

and it was obvious why the tuning guys are not now coming on to FF (recognised oldschool GSR & possibly Nova Angel Tuning) if you notice some of the 'discussions'.
The Abarth guys 'got lucky' with the Alfa 147 gearbox because it can take a lot of abuse - it was a car that I jointly owed with my better half but a cambelt broke prematurely on it.
Building parts to cost means that the tolerances may not be there any more.
If you look at the Panda 100HP the ECU was 'locked' so that you could not tinker with it / re-map it but the 500 ECU could be remapped. The Panda's ECU was locked because they knew that 'they' would tamper.
My thoughts are that Fiat do not expect owners of 500 MJ with 95bhp from a 1248cc diesel to tamper. Size is an issue and having beefed up gearboxs increases size & weight so they artifically reduce what the engine is capable of (e.g. in relation to torque).
I would be mod friendly with I wouldn't tamper with a mito MJ 1.6 but more importantly the OH wouldn't let me !
If you look at some of the owners of the 'new' TA (quite a few of them run or have run 'boosted' cars) and they have declared that they wouldn't 'tamper'.
If you could have an inhibit switch on the lower gears it might be an option IMHO and that is with you driving and not some test pilot.
I hope I have not been a killjoy.
