I have a ’08 500 1,2 Lounge. A while ago the warning light for the number plate light came on. I checked the bulbs, but they were intact. I then started troubleshoot and checked whether there were any voltage in the cables. After a while I found that more or less all cables going from the C pillar to the boot were either cut off or damaged. I asked for a quotation to fix it and found that it will cost me about €1000 since they will have to spend a lot of hours on it. I will most definitely fix it myself due to the cost. But I would like to find out if there are others with similar problems and if in any case FIAT has reimbursed the cost for the repair.

There seems to be some abrasion and this is probably due to bad construction. This kind of problems you’d expect from a 15 y.o. car but not a ’08. Is it fair that a customer should have to pay €1000 for a construction error on a three year old car, or should this be financed by the one’s responsible for the construction?

Thumbs up to RobinPJ for that, I would put money on it being EXACTLY the same issue, Heidi's car is a fairly early car too and I wonder if that was just how they were made back then.

Incidentally, Llamas - you (and all other fiat Forum members) must view my 12 year old daughter's first ever youtube posting - her take on the Llama Song:

Thanks! The mechanic realized that I wasn't very keen on paying him The €1000 so he Rolf me how to fix it for €15. I still have to spend the weekend doing it.
