If you can't think of anything better, you can use it to buy parts for your car's next couple of services, then take them to a local independent for fitting

Sorry for reopening this old thread, but for anybody like me with a broken body/bootlid loom who finds this thread through Google and wonders about a DIY repair, here's a description of the successful repair I did this morning:

Our 500c is nearly 3 years old and has a damaged boot lid wiring loom. Its a common fault it appears with the need to replace the whole loom. I think it is an absolute disgrace that this is not covered under warranty. We were going to replace with another 500 next year but not now. What a rip off.
It is definitely not necessary to replace the whole loom; it can be cured with a very standard solder splice repair.
However, it is **** poor design and review that has let this inherent fault still be in production after all these years.
I have had same problem Seems quite common. I am trying to work out what thick brown wire does??
The two thick wires are for the heated rear window I would guess. There are several less thick wires for the wiper and the brakelight and even smaller ones for the locking mechanism.
