General April Offers?

Motorpoint have quite a lot of delivery mileage / nearly new cars at good discounts, have you tried them?

There's a calypso orange 500 with delivery mileage on the motorpoint site at the moment. It's the only dualogic they have in stock. I thought calypso orange had long since been dropped. I wonder if they are selling non UK cars?

Is it worth going for the TwinAir? Efficiency is literally at the top of my priorities, I don't care about performance since I'm not going to be spending much time above 40mph anyway!

I know I've said this before, but if economy is your most important criteria then the 1.2 will beat the TwinAir hands down, unless you can benefit from the fiscal advantages of congestion charge exemption and reduced BIK. To the best of my knowledge, noone has thus far managed to better my 1.2 real world economy figures in a TwinAir & even if given the choice of either engine at the same price, I'd go for the 1.2 without hesitation. At a £1200 premium it's a no-brainer IF economy is your priority.

A more economical and more costly engine is almost always less financially sensible for the everyday person. That said given the choice I think I'd get the twinair because you'll get good economy and you've got 20% more power.

Thanks JRKitching,

Yeah after an hour or so of thinking about it I think the 1.2 will definitely be the one I'm going to go for. Just had a call from the dealership who are going through some figures now, but have said they will be able to better the website quote by a little bit.

I'll likely use that extra saving towards servicing too, so unless they can knock £20 a month or so off the TwinAir and throw in a service plan (unlikely :)) then the 1.2 will be the one.

The TwinAir is a great choice for many and the combination of "power when you need it, economy when you don't" is a strong selling point.

Having said that, the OP did say that economy was all-important to them and I don't see how having 20% more power is going to help them drive at 40mph.

The TwinAir may be more economical on paper, but I still need convincing that it's more economical on roads - and I spend much more time driving on roads than on paper.

I'm wondering, though, just what kind of figures could I get from a TwinAir? No sense even trying, though, unless I can get hold of one that's decently run-in.

Bravo sir, I have to say that's one of the greatest quotes I think I've ever seen. (y)

So, new deals look reasonable fortunately. Although it looks like I'll be going for the 1.2 rather than the TwinAir, as the interest rate on the 1.2 is still at 0.8% whereas the TwinAir is now at 3.4%. Here's where some maths comes in;

I just looked at Fiat site, think your figures above are wrong;
1.2 Pop - 0.98% fixed - 2.5% APR
1.2 Lounge - 1.84% fixed - 3.1% APR
TA Pop - 1.67% fixed - 3.0% APR
TA Lounge - 0.88% - 2.0% APR

How is TA 3.4% ?

1.2 is a great car, but you will have more fun in TA with that motorbike noise, think Sunday pre-pub run through the country :)
Dont go for 2 colour wheels, I think the spokes look more subtle.

Yeah I got that completely wrong!

I would like the 'fun' of the TwinAir, and I've heard the sound is quite pleasing but it's just economically a silly choice for me. I just checked my Insurance on both engines; £296 on the 1.2, £359 on the TwinAir so with that, extra servicing costs, and the much larger initial cost, it would be stupid to go for it in terms of overall costs given my low mileage and heavy urban use.

Sorted, you are done - 1.2 it is in Red right ?

btw: have a look at the used section under Fiat, Fiat Direct have more pre-regs in now also some other dealers too, IMV in Croydon (part of Fiat) have 1.2 lounge with 16".

Yep! 1.2 Lounge, Paso Red, Red/Black Ambience, 16" O Spokes, Tints, Interscope.

The dealership just got back to me, they can do a further £15 off per month, and full tank of fuel + mats, which is fantastic.

Aiming to get it ordered by the end of next week.

I've been told it'll likely be an 8-week build for a 1.2, I'm preparing myself for a 12 though, I would imagine the wait will be somewhat excruciating!

Great offer, but red/black inside, are you sure you want that much red inside - red seats !! just my opinion.

I agree with arorat. Has to be grey with the black ambiance (or even white ambiance) in a red car. Red with red is a no no. See you've gone for the 5 os (y). The tints will look great with the red.

On the kerbing thing - could you not fit some rim protectors - not too sure how well they work in practice though. Also I would imagine that you will probably get Continental or Bridgestone tyres with the wheels. Maxi might be able to enlighten us as to which ones would be better for resisting a little accident. Probably the luck of the draw as to which ones you wil get. Don't forget to order wheel locks from Fiat so there's a record of the key number in case it gets lost.
