General 500 Quirks?

Sorry was just trying to be helpful. Having lost my Dog (probably my best mate) and my Grandad (my true WWII Hero) in the past 2 days, my mind's a bit of a mess tbh :(

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my grandad (also a WW2 veteran) last year as well. It was made a lot easier by the fact that his mind had gone years ago. As strange as it sounds, the guy who did cool stuff with me when I was a kid died years ago and all that was left was his body just going through the motions. Sorry about the dog as well, I've lost 4 dogs in my time and it never gets easier even when they've had a good innings. I prefer dogs to people tbh.....

Wasn't trying to suggest you weren't being helpful btw, just that features and quirks are different things :)

Strange topic but I found out today while messing about that you cant rev a 500 above 2000 rpm while in reverse (clutch in obviously!) despite trying...it just splutters and doesn't like it.

Anyone found out any other strange things?

My 500 will rev as high as I want to when it's in reverse :confused:

Thanks all for your support. It's tough now. Was going to avoid the interweb for a bit to avoid any upset, but sods law has played it's part and classically, my car insurance runs out at midnight, hence why i'm on here!

Should be back to my usual controversial contrary self in a few weeks (y)

I sincerely apologise if I did cause any upset as it certainly wasn't intentional, I know sometimes I might sometimes pick on your posts more than others but this wasn't one of those times :)

It might be a 100 hours haven't been able to test that, but it doesn't reset at 1000 miles, as my courtesy 500 i had today (naturally i had a look at the trips to see the mpg) and trip a said about 120 miles and trip b had never been reset as it had the same mileage as the car about 1200 miles with a average of 49.7 mpg and a travel time of 57 hours.

I told you my memory wasn't that good :eek: it appears I missed a zero out, lol, should have been 10000km.

I think it would have been more sensible for it to carry on "ad infinitum" so that the mpg would reflect the whole of life economy.

New mission
Reset can be:
– “manual” resetting by the user, by pressing
the relevant button;
– “automatic” resetting, when the “Trip distance”
reaches 9999.9 km or when the
“Travel time” reaches 99.59 (99 hours and
59 minutes);
– after disconnecting/reconnecting the

battery.

While stationary, clutch pressed?

I thought T meant that when travelling backwards the revs were limited to 2000rpm. :confused: I also need to read posts properly.

5. Heated mirrors, if you have the climate control and you press the "de-mist" button, the side view mirrors also heat up to defrost/demist the side mirrors too! Not many people realise this!

You dont need the auto climate control for this. Mine has heated side mirrors with just normal AC.

Another quirk I have noticed is that when you have washed and polished the car and cleaned the inside really well it is at least 10% faster and smoother. This is the same with all cars, mind you - but you won't find it in any manual.
