Anyone had problems with car detecting low oil pressure but not the sensor/switch.

I've got an 08 plate 500 1.3 diesel which flags up low oil pressure ... So far I've proved that there is plenty oil pressure ... The switch goes to ground when the engine is stopped (as normal) and goes open the second the engine is running ( grey/blue wire goes high - as the switch is open)

Traced it right back to the ecu plug which is 0v with engine stopped and 12v when engine is running - normal operation.

However the ecu still flags up low oil on the dash.

Does the 1.3multijet have a pressure sensor as well as pressure switch ?

Please don't answer with the usual - have you checked oil level ect ect as I've proved there is oil pressure to the cylinder head .. Sufficient to trigger the pressure switch.

How long is the warning displayed? Is it only when hot/cold? Have you got just the warning lamp, or the multifunction dash display which shows the message "low oil pressure" too?

Silly question, but has yours got a DPF, and if so, when was the oil last changed?

Sorted this with fiatecuscan ... Into engine parameters and clear fault codes ... Already used latest snapon diagnostic machine but this software gets into the engine management even further and allows access to other fault errors

Car had been in a bump and the wiring damaged .. Engine must have still been running with the sensor wire shorted to earth ... Leading the ecu into think there was no oil pressure when the engine was running.... This must have been stored as a permanent oil failure.

What's wrong with a good old switch and a bulb !:nutter::p
