when i picked up my new 500,got home started to reverse into garage and it started making a noise under clutch load and did'nt think anything of it as i thought it's new just wearing in.anyway after nearly 400 miles decided to take it to the dealer and they said it's the clutch release bearing and needs a new clutch. so on the first day after 7 miles it needed a new clutch how unlucky.

That is unlucky. I've not heard of that before in a brand new 500. Hopefully/probably a one-off.

What sort of noise was it? Some of the earlier ones made a knocking type noise with the clutch under various amounts of load. Ours did this, was also told it was the release bearing - after changing it all they realised it wasn't. In our case it was to do with the hydraulic dampening in the pipework.
