..in one day! Is there anything I should look out for?

I do leave my headlights in the 'on' position when I leave the car as I get to work in the dark and leave in the dark! :bang: Will this be causing it when I lock/unlock the car some how exceeding voltage:confused:

I remember reading a post on here about the same issue where the car went back to the dealer and was fixed quite easily. I cant find it again though but sure i read it on here.

Maybe anyone else can remember where the post is?

Check the wire harness as it goes to the tailgate from the body of the car top left hand side, pull the rubber casing back.I have just noticed this on my wife's 500 nearly all cracked and broken on the outer covering. This may be a cause, hope your 500 is not over 2 years old as Fiat dislike taking responsibly for electrical problems!
Nothing changes!!

They have actually been very helpful up to this point and I can understand small problems occur now and then. As the car is covered under warranty my only expense will be two taxi fares since insurance is trying to charge me an extra £30!!!!!

I hope your wife's car gets sorted by the way -is it covered under the last year of warranty?

As I have found out when the boot would not open a few months ago, the car was just over 2 years old, this was an electrical fault, not covered. When you read the 3rd year warranty document you find very little is covered. So I am sure this issue with the wires won't be fixed under warranty.Just my previous experience with other makes has been really good Nissan one example, Should have read the warranty document before we we bought the car ,It is a charming car so we forgive it.

Thanks for letting me know - I would be quite worried if it's not covered under warranty. However, I will let you know and I'll certainly kick up a fuss if I have to pay any sort of cost to fix this. The car is only just over two weeks old!

Don't let me put you on a downer, you should have no problems, just beware when the car is two years old you have a warranty which is pretty hopeless.
Enjoy your new car .

The problem seems to be self cured! It was due in the garage on Wednesday morning but the warning on the dash has gone and boot is fully functioning.:eek:
