I've got a blown bulb behind the heater control panel of my 500 1.4 sport (manual A/C), but I've no idea of how to remove the panel to change it. Perhaps someone out there can help?

You will not like how to remove that panel.... its held in place by some rather hefty clips... but in short you have to lever the panel off....

If you are going to attempt it... may i suggest some plastic trim tools/knives as these have much less chance of marking the surrounding dash. (y)

I would ask the dealer if dash bulbs are covered under warranty

Just been looking at the same thing on my Panda which I assume is much the same.
Pulling on the larger of the two knobs pulls the housing away from the dash enough to get fingernails under it and pull it off. Best to turn the knobs all the way to the end stop first so they go back properly later.
Your mileage may vary but it worked for me.

Now, we've got a blown bulb, too. 2008 500 1.2 Lounge with manual A/C.
Please, can someone help to remove the panel?

I would try to give the panel a tap. The light went off on the right side if the controls yesterday, small tap and it was fine :)

Got the job done at last.
I removed all four knobs - just prised them out with a small screwdriver, and removed one bolt from behind the temperature control. Then pulled at the the sides of the black plastic panel. I found that I just wasn't pulling hard enough at first. Changed the bulb and replaced everything.

Thanks to all who took the trouble to reply, even the unhelpful and unfunny ones - you know who you are!!

Thank you "toadamb"!

Now I've got it done, too! It only took some power to pull the panel out. I changed both the bulbs.

:)

Very helpful info here guys, I just noticed one of mine gone this week (nearly 2yrs old). I was thinking you must remove the knobs and maybe find sone retaining screws behind them.. Anyway I'll give it a go soon..

Thanks :)

Boy it was hard work pulling off those knobs!

I've got the panel off now and off to get a replacement bulb tomorrow.

Stuck some electrical insulation tape across the bit you put your fingers round to give me something extra to pull with my other hand.. The knobs seemed to come off in two parts, the bit you see then a mount behind to reveal the clear plastic light reflecting mould, then just pull off the panel from both sides.

PS: does anyone know what that vent does/senses between the buttons?

My heater lights have gone aswell.. car is 2yrs old this month.
Does anyone know if it's covered under warranty? (-As I'm useless at DIY!)

Had the same problem. One of the bulbs of the heater/blower panel went. Searched different sites, found a dutch one (witch I speak) (with photo's on how to..):

(add the: http. yourself. I can't post a link - new member )

Now how to change the bulbs:
1: Don't remove the controlknobs!!! Place some sticky tape over all 4 so they can't change position
2: Take a paintersknive (wrap it with a piece of cloth) and gently pry open the complete panel starting at the right upper corner (between then panel and the dash) and then moving to the left (panel has 6 plastic clips), bottom one last. Don't panic if one of the plastic clips pulls out a metal clip (remove it from the plastic clip and up it back in it"s place)
3: Mind the electric wire connected to the panel.
4: Between the heater/blower controlrods there are 2 small bulbs (1,2 watts) (1 between the left rods and 1 between the right rods). Gently remove them (I replaced them both at the same time - 1;5 euro from the dealer)
5: After replacing the bulbs, place the panel (gently) over the controlrods (mind the electric wire). Push the panel back into place (apply force evenly over the complete panel) Mind that the rods slip back into the knobs.

Mission accomplished (y)
